== NPC Lt Tom Krandall, Tactical Officer, Helm ==
Tom never looked away from his console now. This was what he did best. At that very moment he was what he liked to call "In the Zone" with all of his thoughts and movements hyperfocused on what he was doing.
He commented to the CO, "No worries boss. It makes her look a little less graceful, but she still goes where I want her."
Their primary target made a bank to th left and Tom called out, "Here we go, I was wondering how long it would be. He's about to bank right and we'll have a nice split-s intercept to line up on him. He's going to be all yours Powl."
Tom was effectively flying well proven attack patterns with centuries of historic performance behind them, he was just mixing in enough erratic movement that kept him from being predictable enough to get hit by most of the shots coming at him. In a dog fight, you needed to be firing at where you think the target will be a second after you fire. The more you can twitch around and make them unable to predict your seemingly random position, the more they miss. The more they miss, the more frustrated they get. At the same time, even in the vastness of space, ships tended to stay close to each other, using each other for cover and crossfire, but they also got in each other's way sometimes and their target had started turning too close back into the formation, so it was about to be forced outside the wagon wheel again. Tom was ready for a z-axis change as well, it was a logical twist to add to the fake left then go hard right. Tom knew not to get rocky though, there was still going to be plenty more of these buggers trying hard to put holes in them. He really wished, just once, the numbers would be in their favor. This was going to be a long day, but he much preferred a long day where you win, than the alternative.
