== I'm going to go ahead and wrap up the surgery timeline, then post in the current TL ==
Carefully, so carefully, Tes worked the fragment out. It took intense concentration because the shard of bone was exceedingly sharp. He'd studied wounds like this. They were rare but always a possibility. Thanks to the clamping the bleeding was kept to a minimum.
With that done an old-fashioned suture was used to close the artery. A tiny machine no larger than a fingernail was placed next to it. It would regenerate the tissue, monitor the closure, feed information to Sickbay computers, and dissolve in a week. With that done the pressure was off. Adhya released the clamp and blood began to flow again.
The rest of the surgery was routine but lengthy. Bone reconstruction and repair. The shard was fitted back into place and pinned, with growth started using an osteogenic stimulator. Damage to the shoulder and joints was repaired and healing stimulated. Finally, after an hour and a half the job was done. Tes could leave the nurse to close up.
Now the only thing Ejid needed was rest. A few days in Sickbay followed by bed rest in his quarters. He was going to be off duty for a week, minimum, assuming he didn't do anything stupid like starting to work out.
