Sebastian listened as Captain Braggins's transmission came across the bridge. He made no response to it. Braggins was the commanding officer of the Yeager, and any orders concerning the Zephyr would have to come through Captain Ameen.
His attention shifted to the sensor display as the Yeager abruptly broke away from the escorts.
"Captain," Sebastian said, keeping his voice even, "the Yeager is changing course. She's accelerating toward Contact One."
He watched the display for another moment.
"She's moving directly toward the Dreadnought."
Sebastian glanced toward the engineering readouts.
"Isabel's suggestion about shutting down non-essential systems would give us some reserve. We could also temporarily reduce the load on the environmental systems in unoccupied sections. If we lower atmospheric circulation and thermal regulation to their minimum safe levels, we should be able to divert some additional power to the shields and propulsion without affecting occupied areas."
He considered the numbers appearing on his console.
"Nothing drastic. Just enough to give Engineering a little more power to work with."
Sebastian settled back at his station, returning his attention to the sensor display.
"I'll monitor the power redistribution and make sure the environmental systems remain within safe parameters. I'll also keep an eye on the Yeager and report any changes."
