Amila was surprised for a moment by the way the power flickered in the console from the jump. She barely had time to brace herself against the blasts from the blasts before they were over. Baldwin's report on fatalities resonated through her mind as she composed herself and started focusing on what resources they still had to work with. Gath was leaving to try to secure the damaged area.
Cortez spoke up early into the chaos, "The decoys failed because the Cardassians saw them launch. But their purpose doesn't necessarily have to be fooling the Cardassians themselves. If we can make one of the decoys generate a controlled energy signature that resembles a weapon impact, we could use it to provoke the secondary shields without actually firing another torpedo."
"No," Amila said sharply. She had to wait for Baldwin and Gath to report before she could quickly explain herself.
"There's something with the Dreadnaught. The shields are regenerating too fast. Our torpedoes didn't touch it, probes aren't going to do anything," she added. "Ensign Cortez, you can try your idea, but send the probes toward the Hidekis that just tried to take out there. If we can take them out, we'll have less to worry about."
""Lieutenant Keti, help Cortez out. There's three of them. Let's see what we can learn about these battlecruiser's shields, and if there is anything we can do to take their shields - or ships out," Amila ordered. "Lives depend on it. Also, watch them. Any hit they take, we need that data. "
Amila looked over to Morad. "I know we need to take out the Dreadnaught too, but trust me," she pleaded.
We might have to let the other ships handle that. We only have so much left. We need to do what we can.
"Commander O'Fee and I will keep an eye on everything else out there," Amila promised.
