Since her return from Earth, Aeryn had spent most of her time in the Science Complex, ensuring Sovar received anything that might be of interest or not, as she felt it was important to share that information with someone whom she considered to be a friend. Ever since their first meeting and Sovar's subsequent action to the grow labs, it had spurred the Science Chief into action regarding the next phases of her project until the mission naturally took her attention. Not that she pushed it to one side, but rather left it in the capable hands of her allocated staff, receiving regular updates alongside her duties.
The DH also fulfilled her assigned command duties, often taking the watch during the night or on a different shift rotation. Sure, she had been given an Acting FO role once before, but this didn't involve chasing a Cardassian warship or rescuing the Captain from their clutches. The experience was a learning curve, one Aeryn embraced fully, and when she would return to her quarters, she would update her personal log, catch up on letters and speak to her parents.
Reflecting on what she had achieved and the increased respect for those in charge, Aeryn was grateful for the opportunity, wondering what it would be like to step in their shoes on a more permanent basis. While she believed she could do the job well, it had never been her dream to command a ship, but perhaps her dream could change. She still had time to rethink such things, but for now she was content and happy to be in her current position without the additional responsibility. Of course, it wouldn't stop her from helping out if required, knowing she could step up without question or hesitation.
Never did she think she would find her place, not after losing Merle and saying goodbye to her previous assignment, but Artemis was now her home, and she would protect her and those who resided within her, with every fibre of her being.
