Peter had of course known...not exactly what Braggins would do, but had had an idea. He knew the Captain, after all, after all this time.
And...well, if he had to go down swinging, it might as well be on this ship. With this crew. That he had served for so long.
He nodded as he made sure that the seatbelt keeping him in his chair was fully fastened so at least he wouldn't be sucked out into empty space...or at least not without his chair!
He quickly sent a message to d'Tor'an:
"It has been an honor, my love. I love you, and will see you in Sto-vo-kor where I'll kick the doors in to find you if necessary. Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam!"
Then right after Braggins had ordered them to attack the dreadnaught, he leaned in towards her:
"We are like Horatius at the Pons Sublicius", he whispered to her so only she could hear, referring to the ancient tale of one man - with two more at his side - who defended a bridge long enough for Roman engineers to cut it down to prevent the Etruscans from storming it and taking the city. And then he finished with something he wouldn't have thought he'd say once this journey had begun:
"I'm proud to have served with you, Captain. Godspeed."
And then his attention went back to the display in his chair. If he was going out today, then by whatever God might be real, he was going to make it as hard and costly on the Cardassians as possible.
