No sooner had Ethan asked about other possible programs like this one and Cologero came over and confessed he knew about several such programs. Kalli smiled and nodded, "Indeed, she has quite a collection of them. I helped program more than a few for her, but I say helped, because she knows her way around a holoprogram pretty well on her own. I did agree though that I would not bring one of my pet projects along on such exercises. I've been working on a drone program that is quite unique. DeeDee started out as a targeting program and I have customized it into quite a useful program for not only Damage Assessment, but Search and Rescue as well. It would have been perfect for something like this, but then where would our fun be, so no cheating for me on these."
Kalli looked thoughtful for a moment and said, "The placement of their shuttle sounds like it might have been used as a communication uplink. I've known Commander talion to daisy-chain such devices to establish communications where standard signals get lost. I saw him use a series of probes for that once. A shuttle and a vehicle might have done the trick as well. The question is how far they got in before communication was lost. We should be able to backtrack the signal to find out where the last node was. If a node was lost, we might know where there was a cave-in that took it out, or how far they traveled before contact was lost. That would give us our first obvious destination to start looking and perhaps save time in our adventure, though we don't want to overlook anything either."
Glancing between Jez and Cologero, Kalli responded to Jez about the power sources, "In reference to those signals that were recorded, it would be good to know what we have on record and if any of those have moved or changed at all...ever. If what you are saying is true, then we might see one of them no longer giving a reading or some such thing. It could be useful to know if there is a history of fluctuations or if something eroded and a device has moved as a result, shifting the patterns. The more data I have to look at, the more I might be able to offer input about."
Kalli had only grinned at the request of Security wanting a perimeter. Something about a hammer looking for nails came to mind, but she kept that one to herself. Kalli also understood the need for caution. There was no telling who or what might be inside the caves. She herself had lived inside such caves for a time and she had been what others feared. It was hard not to wonder why there was mention of submerged ruins and images of vast underwater structures. Were these once above ground and something changed, or were they always under water and some had eventually been exposed above the water? Without knowing more, it was hard to know where they belonged and which was moved out of their original element. Archeology wasn't her strongest field and she had little information to go on so far, so she remained silent on the matter.
