Jez was a bit disappointed; she was expecting a Murder Mystery, but she understood the value of such an assessment. Superiors often used such events to evaluate junior officers' skills and abilities.
Jez went over to Cologero and whispered, “Whoa, Cologero, hold on. Star Fleet policy clearly states that in a rescue mission, the team's safety is paramount. First, we check and make sure that the equipment is in working order and that everyone knows their respective job. Second, we check the Commander's shuttle, especially the shuttle's communications logs. Maybe they set a transmission indicating what happened. Maybe they put it down here for a reason: engine trouble, or they were forced down.” Stated Jez. : We can’t rule out that Hostiles may have taken the Commander's Hostage and placed the shuttle near the cave entrance to throw us off the trail.”
Jez knew that Commander Velaul was brilliant, and yes, this was a test, and given Velaul’s attention to detail, if her past Holo after mission events held, she probably had a diversion in it. The old look at the right hand, but ignore what I’m doing with the left hand,
“Listen up, people; we need a long-range scan of the planet and the surrounding system; we don’t need Hostiles interfering in our search and rescue mission.” Ordered Jez.
Mike remained silent, but approved Jez’s strategy,
Looking at Cologero, “ When we land, have your best drone pilots do recon of the cave and the surrounding area, to see if there is an easy way in, or enemies lurking about,” Suggested Jez.
“Kalli and Carley, can you replicate some micro tectonic stabilizers just in case the cave isn’t tectonically stable?” Said Jez.
“Computer, what do we know about this planet? Is it geologically stable, and whose planet is this?”
