From the probe's scans, it did not appear than the station was doing anything beyond maintaining battlestations with shields up and weapons armed. Whether or not they were attempting to communicate with the outside world was impossible to determine in passive mode.

To do so would require stripping the probe down entirely, increasing its fuel supply, and replacing the Warp Sustainer Engine with a much scaled-down warp drive. It was doable, but it would take time.
However, the theory was sound, and scaled exponentially. While a small probe might temporarily disable a Cardassian ship's systems, something the size of the Yeager could theoretically wreak much more havoc. Anyone familiar with warp fields or helm operations would know the theory, but they would also know that it was tantamount to suicide if it wasn't pulled off perfectly.
