To say that Ris was out of his depth was like saying the USS Enterprise was mildly well-known both in and out of the Federation. He controlled his breathing like T'rohhna had instructed him, and focused as best he could on what could or could not be done. Not "what ifs". He took in the Captain's brief, yet informative and enlightening summation of her standing with the Cardassian Union.
Her consternation evident in her voice, Captain Braggins asked, "Does anyone have any brilliant ideas for how to slow them down? Hell, I'll take wild-ass guesses for what might work if that's all you've got."
Ris' antennae flexed slightly up and down a few times as he focused on maintaining his composure.
"Cardassians are known for their arrogance and overconfidence, if my recollection of the history classes at the Academy serves me well. They have arrived in force, so, a log- reasonable inference is that they feel they have solid intel as to what forces are present here. Some efforts to undermine that may at least force a delay on their part." He had keyed his console's mic to patch what he was saying through to Lieutenant Commander Qi. "With apologies for continuing to dip in the well of utilizing probes, we could both simulate the sensor affect of a cloaked vessel or three, and perhaps encrypted comm chatter coming from a nearby moon? As if a ground strike force was ensconced there." A deep breath. "Or we fire a spread of torpedoes with their yields dialed in to produce primarily EM interference instead of damage, to blind the Cardassian vessels for at least a few minutes."
