The technology used to give Jason his look was user friendly, it gave him little to no trouble while using it. There wasn't much about it that Jason couldn't figure out, if there was a change to be made it took a few seconds to do. Since Jason didn't really know many people on the ship, there wasn't anyone who would know the difference. "In time you can get the hang of socialization, none of us were born with the ability." These skills took time with a lot of mistakes that were embarrassing at the time, but over time became the basis of what really didn't work.
"There are still times when I fumble my way through a conversation, I just don't show it or dwell on it for a long time." Everyone had that one skill that did like a professional, while others were not developed at all. Keeping things a secret for teens wasn't the issue, they always kept something secret. The biggest part of it right now was nothing more than innocence at its finest, if they were going to do anything else that would be for later in life.
