Moments after Ris had offered the suggestion of utilizing Class I probes to emit a burst of energy to disrupt a warp field, albeit briefly, the simulation he had queued up on his console returned its results. The text informed him in very neutral, yet damning all the same, language that a Class I probe simply didn't possess sufficient power to do what he wanted. However, they could be used in a desperation effort by blocking and damaging a vessel's plasma vents.
"Captain, a brief analysis shows that Class I probes lack the power output to disrupt a warp field, unfortunately, However, they do have the means to transfer sufficient kinetic energy to damage and interfere with plasma vents. We'd have to deploy a multitude to have the best chance of slipping them past their passive sensors and through any point defenses they could get spun up in time. Barring that, we could ready a disruptive EM burst that could knock their sensors offline to delay their warp calculations."
His antennae tips curled slightly in and out, a sign he was focusing his will on the immediate problem and not on how over his head he felt.
"Given this vessel's past encounters with the Os'rusa, I would surmise a diplomatic endeavor isn't an option?"
Ris allowed himself a slight glance towards Ensign Wright at her station, in order to gauge her response to developments.
Not that I expected the Academy to be anything like actual service on a ship...but, they really don't go beyond the tip of the iceberg there, do they!?
