Aeryn hadn't stayed idle while Sovar collected more of the milaberries, using the time to gather the other fruits she had promised the FO, namely those from Betazed. Jacarine and uttaberries were equally tasty in the Science Chief's opinion, although if asked, she was perhaps a little biased towards the berries Sovar had found delicious. Normally Aeryn was a savoury kind of girl, but it had been nice to branch out and expand her taste buds, dipping into dangerous territory if she didn't maintain some self-control. Having a disciplined security background did help most of the time, but it wasn't as if she had anyone to appreciate such things. This also wasn't a pity party because shore leave had shown her she didn't need to feel sorry for herself, that it wasn't her fault and that it was okay to be herself.
Exactly what she was doing now- collecting another basket's worth of deliciousness before Sovar said something that made her pause and turn back just as her fellow fruit enthusiast did the same- had she royally messed up? Aeryn racked her brain as to what she had done until Sovar explained, and suddenly, understanding dawned on her pale features. He wanted to know more about her fellow DH's in detail, specifically their personalities and histories, the latter being something he could easily have found on their records, but this way he had more insight than mere words on a screen could tell him.
Two names were mentioned, and Aeryn thought about the two women who had become close friends, both different yet equally important when it came to how she valued their friendship. Sovar wasn't wrong either with how he described her working relationship with Mara. The gesture he then made with the berries spoke of gratitude, as she took some and pondered his request. " I understand what you meant, Sovar, and I did have a close working relationship with Commander Calleja; I couldn't have had a better person as my assistant Chief at the time; she's not afraid to tell it how it is, to make you see options that you might never have thought of. I liked that honesty, and I knew that there was no better person to take over than Mara Calleja. Sure, she's got a reputation, but don't let that fool you because deep down, she's loyal, fierce and gets the job done. I've seen her grow into who she's supposed to be, and sometimes I wish I had half her confidence, but that's why we're good friends".

I know not many head nurses become CMO; however, Robin seems to have taken it all in her stride, not letting who she is get in the way of running her department efficiently. I don't get to work as closely with her, other than when we've been on away missions together; it's mostly social, either in the lounge or our recent trip to Earth where I hosted a crew BBQ".
Despite knowing Robin a little longer than she had Mara, Aeryn realised there was still plenty to learn from both of her friends, and she supposed that was the beauty of being on a crew together, especially considering the amount of time they got to spend with one another when duty allowed.
