AT/D04 - Officer's Lounge
#18
Lucy knew she could hide all she wanted, but that would not help her with her social anxiety. She needed to prove that she could be a functioning adult, especially where it mattered. That meant having something to eat in the Officer’s lounge and maybe engage in conversation, or attempt to.

She walked into the Lounge and tried be confident. Purposeful? She could try for calm, which wasn’t easy. She ordered a Hawaiian Burger, the kind that came with a grilled pineapple ring. She was trying to exercise her chaos in a less dangerous ways. She also ordered a bowl of fries  with no seasoning, though there was a small cup of ketchup and a glass of cream soda. She looked around and saw an option.

Lucy saw Ju, Hally and an officer she hadn’t met. Technically she hadn’t talked with Ju. She needed to mend fences or at least see if she needed to fall on her sword. Her stupidity at the previous briefing didn’t seem to want her to forget. Damian had looked ready to tear Lucy out more than the Captain or Aeryn, but something had happened and now she couldn’t repair that bridge.

She needed to know if she had the same fate in Ju’s eyes. She needed to know how the Engineering Officer felt and see if she was beyond hope. Lucy carefully navigate the lounge and arrived at their table.

“Room for one more?”

She’d hesitated almost too long and she needed to be certain.
