Sovar had asked, and so Aeryn had been as honest as she could be with the new FO, taking what she knew from being on the crew for as long as she had. The highs, the lows and everything else in between, because there was no denying the Artemis had been tested several times over, and not just with the missions they had been given. The redhead also liked to think she was a good judge of character, of knowing when she could be open, when to remain guarded, and Sovar had managed to put her at ease, without her needing to question his motives. He was insightful, honest and interested, qualities the DH admired in a potential friend, as well as genuine, and there was no reason for her to doubt that.
When the FO spoke, he understood the situation he found himself in and how to change his perspective on how he might come across to others. Being a new person on Artemis wasn't always easy, particularly for those in a higher position, remembering Givens and the last temporary FO, so maybe she could be hopeful that Sovar would be a better addition for however long Command decided to keep him there. No one could truly replace Damian, but she was willing to give him that chance.
" Unfortunately, you've been thrown in at the deep end, as the saying goes, but then again, how you act during the mission and the others getting to see what you're capable of, can only help your cause".
Sometimes actions spoke louder than words, and while Sovar could introduce himself before launch, the mission itself would be the true test of whether he would be fully accepted or not. The saying he then mentioned was quite apt, given the situation, and Aeryn thought it fit quite well. " It will indeed".
More of the berries disappeared, and Aeryn couldn't blame Sovar at all because the berries did have a certain appeal, and she could relate to how easy it was to keep eating them. No doubt it would be a story to share another time, with them bonding over fruit and Science. Liking the way his eyes lit up, as he commented on the berries before thanking her, and asking if he could harvest some more. " I'm happy that you like them, Sovar", she began, taking a slight risk by using his name rather than title. " You can ask me anything anytime, and no, not at all, feel free to harvest some more, while I'll harvest something else I think you will like".
The Scientist had an inkling Sovar might also enjoy uttaberries and jacarine if he wanted to try them.
