Cindy looked at the clip and nodded, "That was quite a kick! I can see why it got you some attention. I can appreciate what you're saying. There was a time when I was trying to be too many things to too many people. I wanted people to know what I was capable of and I guess you could call it pride. Technically, I'm capable of almost anything, but I discovered that takes some of the fun out of it. I stopped teaching many of those things and focused on certain other things. I suppose that Alex is sort of like my dad in one sense, but I also helped create myself, which is perhaps a bit of a contradiction to some. I help him with his research, even when that research was me. When I realized that I could be anything, I had to think about what it was I really wanted to be, then I tried to do the best I could in creating that specific kind of art."
Cindy grinned at him, "To answer your question, I have read that book. I've also read your religious book, along with a few others. Sadly, there are about as many differing opinions on such things as there are people. I will never speak against what someone believes unless it is going to involve harming someone because of it. I think it is foolish for anyone to step into that personal conversation with another person. the reason behind that is that I compare it to a relationship between two people who love each other. For example, if someone steps into a conversation between a husband and a wife, that outside person can't possibly know everything about that relationship. They can spout psychology and so on, but they're not in that relationship. Likewise, the relationship between a person and their deity is a very personal one. The purpose of a religion should be about self control, not the judgement of others. Far too often it becomes a tool of control and that is very unfortunate, but if people can find wisdom and guidance from it, then it can be a very good thing."
Cindy chuckled and got up, "Speaking of stepping in the middle of things, I should go, in the event you two find your second wind. Anything else I can do for you both before I take off?"
