Lakes and Recreation - Artemis Shore Leave
#88
As Beka walked away towards the grills, Tes picked his DataPADD back up and reopened the file he was working on. He would get some composition done in the meantime.

Okay, what chord did I leave off on?

He stared at the staves, his mind in a fog.

Oh.

He chuckled at his own incompetence and started working again.

By the time Beka returned, Tes had completed a large block of music.

“Let me land this… About the only thing I’m ever trusted to land, mind you,” the doctor joked as she got everything down without spilling anything.

Tes chuckled at the joke, powering off the DataPADD and placing it on the table.

“OK. One rib-eye steak, hold the salt. You let me pick, I picked,” she added with a grin as she handed over the knife and fork. “Couple of bottles of cola. If you want one, help yourself, otherwise it won’t go to waste. The rest is me. Because I haven’t eaten, and if there’s ever a time to misbehave with the diet, it’s when you’ve got good food like this on offer.”

“Thank you,” Tes smiled cordially and took the fork and knife from Beka. He cut a piece of steak off and ate it. It was wonderful, especially without the salt.

“Sorry, I’m not a great conversationalist when I’m eating.”

“That’s fine,” Tes replied, chuckling a bit before he even made the joke. “I’m not a great conversationalist, eating or not.”

“Tell me a bit about yourself. What do you do for fun?”

Tes swallowed the bite of food that was in his mouth, gesturing vaguely to the DataPADD before he was able to speak. “I compose music.”

==Tag Beka. You’re all good, I understand completely!==
