Lakes and Recreation - Artemis Shore Leave

== Sorry for the delay, work problems. ==

"Yeah, sure. I think that’s a good idea."

Robin wasn't sure if Tes really thought it was a good idea, but he was willing and that was fine. Truth was that the CMO hadn't really expect the new medic to take her up on it. Still, Robin's Appalachian-bred (colonial) sense of manners wanted to make introductions as painless as possible. After all, Tes was just meeting new crewmates. How painful could that be?

The young Augment's attention was drawn to a shout. "Who the hell do you think you are!” She turned just in time to see a dark-skinned woman dump something over... Beka?!? "Turning up to a Star Fleet gathering looking like that! Do you have no shame?!"

Oh crap, he we go.

Robin's best friend reacted exactly as expected. "Who the fuck appointed you the morality police? You’ve got no problem with that guy over there in fucking y-fronts, or Nat’s cropped top, but you’re coming at me for something that’s not even that bad? Just how bad are your insecurities?"

They're arguing over swimsuits? Like in high school?

And then came the short, sharp crack of a slap.

'Grats, lady, you just reached stage 2. Warp core breach imminent.

Still, as tempting as it was to go over and try to talk things down she saw the form of Mara heading there at speed. Beka and Mara got along as well as snake and mongoose, but it was unlikely the redhead would try anything with the Security Chief. So it was to the CMO's great surprise when Mara's attempt to break things up resulted in her going into the lake. Robin was so shocked that she felt like she locked up momentarily.

And there it is. Boom.

"Maybe… those introductions can wait." Tes had a nervous smile, but his antenna were giving things away.

Mara emerged from the water threatening great and bloody vengeance in a way that would have given a Klingon pause. Robin had hoped that the two had settled things well enough before the mission with the clones, but Beka had just ripped out those stiches. The redhead had apparently realized her mistake, but far too late.

"Yeah. Why don't we hold off on that?" There was a cold anger in Robin's voice. Her eyes were fixed on the two.

And then the CMO was moving with all the speed her odd genetic lineage gave her, covering the distance to the lakeshore in only moments. Aeryn was also of a similar mind, sprinting over to calm things down. A former Security Chief, she'd been trained extensively on de-escalation. Would it be enough? Mara had never been one to back down from a fight if she felt like she'd been slighted. And she had been. Aeryn was trying to position herself between them, and the nurse wasn't sure if that was a good idea or not. There was no way Robin was going to do the same thing. Aeryn stood a chance of defusing things that way; she didn't.

But she was sick of it all. She couldn't have a relaxing day among the green hills of England without some kind of a scene.

"Knock... it... the... fuck... OFF!!!" Robin yelled at the two. "No one's killing anyone, except that the two of you are killing me!"

Her Augment genetics gave her incredible speed, but hadn't come with the endurance required to really use it effectively. The tiny woman was noticeably winded, and she'd be feeling that sprint later. Gemstone eyes blazed with cold fire as she glared at the two, her friends, both behaving like Mardi Gras drunks. Nonetheless she was so angry that she was cursing, something that the polite young officer never did. She wasn't even aware of it.

She spun, pointing at the dark-skinned woman with the Bajoran nose ridges. "You! Don't go anywhere, because I have some choice words for you that you're not going to like."

She wasn't sure how any of them would react. Burst out laughing, maybe, at this chipmunk-sized girl who looked like an Academy sophomore yelling at them. She didn't care. At best she might be a distraction, allow Aeryn to position herself. But this was her shore leave, and she was absolutely not going to have it ruined by violence.
