Mara seemed keen to check out the pub later, having only known dive bars in the past, before the Security Chief apologised to Hally about snapping at her earlier, and Aeryn understood because you could never judge a book by its cover, an old saying that felt rather apt in the moment. However, before Aeryn could acknowledge anything, shouting erupted near the lake, and the last thing the redhead wanted was any trouble, especially since this was supposed to be an opportunity to relax and chill. Then again, human nature had a way of showing its true colours, and she should have expected some disagreement. Although at the mention of her ex, Aeryn's blood ran cold, freezing her to the spot while Mara rushed off to deal with it.
Had inviting Beka been a mistake? Aeryn wasn't sure right now, but at the same time, she wanted to move on, to get past any awkwardness and be civil with one another, and yet Beka was making it difficult. Whether she was responsible or not, Aeryn knew she couldn't just sit there and watch, so she quickly found her legs again, putting aside her food and beer as she got up from the bench. " Hally, up to you if you want to come over and not, but I've got to intervene".
Leaving the pilot to either stay or follow, Aeryn moved at a sprint, arriving in time to see Mara land in the water. This was bad, very bad, considering the times Aeryn had to step in to diffuse a situation, especially between Beka and Mara. It was like history repeating itself as Mara emerged with her temper raised at Beka. She had to get between them, hoping they would listen to reason; otherwise, it wouldn't be a good spot to be in.
" What the hell happened?" she asked, wanting to get the facts before she came up with a plan to stop Mara from killing Beka. " Because this isn't the time and place for murder".
