Beno had a smile on her face that wasn't very subtle, the first date remark was more of a little joke than anything. She wasn't really thinking about actually dating anyone at this time, just calming down during the eye of the storm. "Actually that was me being a little silly." Normally this wasn't something that she did during a mission, in this case the wait time was killing her. "Its just nice to put the rank aside for a minute, just to feel a little more normal." Normal wasn't a word she used very often.
When the next round of talks happen she will be a little more relaxed, she would also be able to think with a little more clarity and more information. "Its been a long time since I have been this relaxed with someone, I normally keep a small distance between myself and others." Just then Beno felt something a little odd to her, she didn't realize what it was until she seen it.
Without thinking about it, Alex said, "He's resolved to the situation and wants his family to be safe. He knows that he's a bit too deep into it all to see things as clearly as he would like. That means it is perhaps best if the Captain makes the decision about what might be safest for the family, but he will be limited by what the family wants in the end. He can offer, but the Federation has no jurisdiction over them unless they give it to him." He was looking her in the eye again, "Let me know if there is anything you need from myself or from Cindy to help out." Beno was about to say something before she felt it again, this time it was different.
Just then, a very large dog walked up and sat down just behind Beno. Beno recognized it as Thor. He just sat, tongue hanging out and panting mildly but being impossibly polite for what was supposed to be a dog. At the same time, Alex's daughter Reyna came over and sat down on the other side of Beno, set down a milkshake she had been sipping on and smiled up at Beno. She then looked at Alex and said, "So how does this custom work? Am I supposed to hold the other hand? Is this a Trill thing? Can I talk directly to your symbiont or when you speak does it sound in your head like everyone speaking at once, you know, like a choir or something?"
Beno always loved dogs but not their passengers, if they had fleas it could make things difficult on her. The questions asked were enjoyable to her, she laughed a little while hearing them. "If you grab my other hand all you will feel is cold, a joined Trill has cold hands with a warm heart."
For her other question about Velaul, there were a lot of people that would want to know. "No one talks to the Symbiont outside of a few select Trill, I don't have the ability to talk to mine like I am talking to you. Think of it like this Velaul is a vessel that holds everything about the previous host, the only time it feels like everyone talking at once is at the very beginning. Get joined with a Symbiont that had a few hosts, and all of them talk to you at once. More often then not new hosts believe they are the previous hosts, even taking on old habits they had." Beno stopped for a second.
"Once settled my memories are no different than your own, something triggers a memory from your past that might be helpful for the present or just amusing. The difference is mine come from several sources, previous hosts have memories that I can draw from." There was one host that came to mind for an example. "One for instance was excellent at playing cards, poker was his favorite. He won a few hands without even looking at his pocket cards, he was playing the people at the table. That same host is the one I can call upon at any time to talk directly to him or others, he won't have a physical body and I am the only one who can see or hear him." This was something that no one really talked about, and some would be mad if they knew she just talked about it.
