Sebastian could feel his anxiety building; time was against them, and he knew it. He shook his head in an attempt to clear his thoughts,
Sebastian, you can do this,, relax and breathe, you are safe,
His mind was telling him this, but his body was telling him something else; his heart was racing, his pulse beating like a drum, his body was sweating, his breath ragged. He felt like a fool in front of the crew; here they were professional, superior Star Fleet Officers, and here he was battling a foolish, irrational, childish Claustrophobia
You have no business being around these officers; they can do the job when needed, but you are an embarrassment to the uniform.
Just then, the comsystem of his EVA Suit crackled to life, "Bridge to Cortez, Do not cut that power. Our sensors show those pods have no battery backup. If you sever the connection, we lose them. You have to splice it live, Midshipman. Clamp the Aura's feed directly to the bus bar. It's going to spark, but the suit will protect you. Just get the connection solid."
Sebastian jumped a little when His comm system activated again, this time it was A'kilees, a fellow midshipman, but he was an Engineer.
[Cortez, everything ok?] Sebastian didn’t have time to answer.
At this point, Sebastian was in full-blown panic mode, but there was something in the Captain’s voice, it sounded like his del Abuelo voice, the same pitch, the same deep commanding tone that inspired confidence,
The voice in his head had changed
Mi querido Sebastián, puedes hacerlo. Eres fuerte y capaz. Concéntrate, la gente cuenta contigo. ( My beloved Sebastian, you can do this. You are strong and capable. Focus, people are depending on you.)
Not realizing his commlink was still open, he said, [ Sí, abuelo, enseguida.] ( Yes, grandfather, right away.)
He took a few deep breaths and began focusing on the task at hand. Sebastian rummaged through his bag and found a Hyper spanner. A hyper spanner was an adaptable, multipurpose engineering tool carried aboard starships, but it was also used in the Science Departments, as Scientists often have to link equipment together on the fly. Its uses included repairing communication systems, relinking, and bypassing the circuit boards of electrical systems.
Sebastian always carried several hyper spanners in his duty bag. He quickly linked the pillar to the Hyper spanner and then linked the hyper spanner to the pods. He caught a stray shock once in a while. He watched in satisfaction, and the power seemed to be flowing towards the stasis pods
Work, dam it, work!
Sebastian then activated his comm system _[ Cortez to Dr. O”Fee, you should be getting power, now. ]
Sebastian was still feeling claustrophobic; his breath was ragged, as if he couldn’t fill his lungs completely. He knew he had to get it under control. He kept telling himself that he can do this, that there is nothing to be afraid of.
