== Crew Quarters ==
It had been a long journey to get to the USS Zephyr but finally A’kilees had arrived in the crew quarters of his first posting. Charting a civilian vessel to get here for the past couple days had been an enjoyable and relaxing experience. He had a chance to talk with other passengers, enjoy some drinks, shipspotted some passing vessels and most importantly got a chance to study the engineering specifications of the Steamrunner class frigate before coming aboard with the shuttle. A’kilees had even been able to acquire some Aldebaran Whiskey before his arrival which pleased the saurian very much. Perhaps as the newest resident to the joint accommodations, offering a drink to his new roommate would be the best way to break the ice. An Old Fashion perhaps? He could definitely replicate everything he needed to make one later.
The room was similar to that of his accommodations back at the Academy; two bedrooms, a work area, bathroom with sonic shower, replicator, and personal holographic viewer. There was no indication of who A’kilees was going to share the room with but overall the room was clean and tidy to which he approved of. He tossed his bag on the floor and checked for an empty locker to place his things.
“Computer, increase the room temperature by four degrees.”
The computer beeped in acknowledgement and began to heat up the room ever so slightly as A’kilees began to unpack his things and get dressed into his engineering uniform. It had been brisk the last couple days back at the Academy now that October had come. The colder air made his nose run but the dry and temperate air of the starship was a great relief.
I’m sure that whomever I’m sharing with won’t mind too much to have it a bit warmer he thought as he buttoned up the rest of his uniform.
Soon, with all his clothing quickly squared away and his uniform looking prim and proper, he reached into his bag and pulled out the prized bottle of whiskey and stored it away next to his pants for safe keeping until he would have a drink after his first day onboard. The last thing out of his bag was a model Phoenix Class Corvette which he had finished assembling just before his graduation and had taken it with him as a small souvenir. He placed it in the window sill and it floated there with the background of space passing by in the background. He stared at it a while, seemingly flying through the dark vastness, lost in thought and enjoying the brief and quiet moment to himself.
