“So no transporter defences, and precious little else. Looks like these guys are really relying on location and those floating antiques to protect themselves. The Dominion were many things, but they weren’t amateurs. This? This is amateur work,” the Trill said scathingly. “I wonder if they even have sensor nets set up. Can we get teams on the ground without them noticing?”
Pearson looked on, quietly (for once) taking in the situation and the tactical assessments of his peers.
The Aussie's specialization wasn't strategic assessment, in fact he found it rather dull. His fancy was far more tuned to moment to moment tactical decisions and quick reaction tactics, but that didn't mean he hadn't learned a thing or two over the years.
"Amateur work. Yeah, maybe..." He seemed particularly interested in the camp itself. "Could be they aren't interested in security because they've got goons to handle it - or maybe they just are focused on more important matters."
He placed his hands on the table, hunching over it while peering at his fellow officers, "The qoH' was a repurposed freighter, older, though I didn't get the impression from the bridge or even what I've heard of the smuggling hold that it was particularly advanced. Everything else we've seen seems to point to repurposed Dom tech, not enhanced, not upgraded, not even particularly well maintained..." He glanced back at the table, "Which tells me that whatever this is, it isn't well funded, and probably isn't some resurgent faction from the war. It *IS* amateur in a lot of ways - almost too amateur."
He stood back up and crossed his beefy arms across his broad torso, "They seem more concerned with slipping unnoticed than provoking a fight. Klingo ships, the nebula, the platforms. And now this camp on a near deserted world with no noticeable defenses, and a fence that directs inwards." He shakes his head, "What if this is a science facility instead of a POW camp or the like? Even insurgents would at least make an effort to seem more prepared, right? Especially if run by Klinks..."
He put a finger to his lips, gathering his thoughts before addressing no one in particular, "Maybe we should pull some data on Dom Science and medical facilities - maybe the ones that grew the Jem-haddos. Could give us at least something to compare this layout to. If this is rogue or remnant Dominion eggheads, then maybe we can get a tip off to it. Old habits die hard, afterall, you know?"
