==Near the bar with Commander Ameen==
"I'll have a Saurian Brandy, neat," Ameen ordered, then turned to Amila. "What can I get for you?"
Amila couldn't help but give Ameen a look as he placed his drink order, adoration with just a hint of mischief behind a grin that was barely suppressed.
"I'll have a dirty martini, please." Amila smiled at the barter as she said her order, then turned her attention back to Ameen. He leaned just slightly closer to her - she felt it more than she actually saw a physical difference in distance. She was drawn to him, but she resisted the urge - she was both keenly aware that the lounge was filling with people, yet at the same time when he spoke to her she felt as if they were alone in the room. It was just him.
His voice was low, a quiet murmur meant only for her. "Seriously, Amila, you and your team... you did an amazing job with this place. It looks incredible." He paused, his gaze softening a bit. "This is... a little strange, isn't it? Trying to act like just the CO and CSO at a formal dinner after... everything."
Her breath caught in her chest, and she could feel her heart pounding in her chest. Strange didn't begin to describe what she was feeling right now. She was relieved to hear that he still felt it too.
"Sure, strange might be one way to describe it," she replied. She took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. She knew her eyes had probably lingered on his just a little too long, so she gave him a tiny nod before looking bashfully to the floor, then over casually to the bartender as she was shaking her martini.
