“You survived? Shame,” Yordan teased.
Ollie raised an eyebrow, smirk never faltering, “Leman, I knew you’d be heartbroken. Spent the entire time in sicky, jus' picturin’ your face when you heard I made it.”
He leaned on the edge of the console, his beefy arms folded casually. “You know mate, next time I’ll be sure to leave behind something here in the complex for ya, real meaningful like. Lock of hair, maybe a signed photo. You know, something special so you'll have some closure, just in case.” He finished the banter with a wink.
“Don’t listen to him,” Ardanna cut in, her voice teasing, “He’s only jealous. Besides, your survival means I don’t have to fill out the paperwork.”
Ollie’s eyes twinkled, the smirk deepening just for her.
“Paperwork and sympathy. A bloke might think a girl was worried about 'em - that is, if he didn't know better.” he said, his tone dipping into something softer, his usual cocksure grin suddenly appearing more genuine and warm.
Ollie leaned in a touch closer, shoulder nearly brushing hers. Ardanna smelled good. She always smelled good.
He didn't let the moment linger long before diverting from the softness of the moment to the matter at hand, “So, what’ve we got then? I've cheated death once already today, might as well keep on the streak, eh?”
He cracked his knuckles with mock bravado.
“Right then! Let's have a squiz at this dodgy mystery base, eh?"
