People were starting to shuffle into Fairwinds Lounge as expected, with Keir making hir appearance as Amila was asking the doctor to tell her a little more about the Mediator. Amila's eyes widened at the Doctor's bluntness, and she was afraid to even turn to Morad as Evie talked about Kestir treating Sickbay like a brothel. Such topics didn't typically embarrass her, but with him standing there she was certain that she was half a step away from blushing and was starting to regret she had asked in his company.
Thankfully Keir had offered a reprieve from the topic of Kestir by commenting on the dress uniforms. Amila had to agree. She could barely stand them herself.
"Greetings Commander, someone should work out a way to make dress uniforms more comfortable, unless that IS intentional," Keir had addressed the Captain before turning to Amila. "It looks like you and your team pulled off a small miracle. The setting looks amazing. Congratulations Lieutenant Ra'an to you and your team as well. I can hardly recognize the room."
Amila smiled graciously as she answered honestly, "Thanks, but the staff here did most of the work, they were already on it. I just shifted directions a bit when we heard Kestir was now gracing us as a more youthful spirit," She lowered her voice as she added, "And I totally agree about the uniforms. They are awful."
She continued to try to play it cool and professional in Ameen's presence, despite the new territory of the social atmosphere they were now in. She tried to detach herself a bit from the situation as she listened to him address everyone in their small group and the various comments that they had raised, but then he said her name again. Her first name. In public.
"Amila..." Her name on his lips. The sound of his voice speaking it out loud now sent a warmth through her. She doubted he had any idea what that did to her.
"Since you're the architect of all this... would you join me for that first drink while wait?"
It was a public invitation. One that could have been asked to any senior officer in her stead. But it hadn't been. A quiet secret between the two of them. And well, Keir. Amila glanced ever so slightly in hir direction, expecting disapproval, caution maybe. But they would be professional despite the pounding in Amila's chest.
"Of course, Commander," Amila replied. She was too nervous to smile just yet, but it was for the best. Her smile gave away so much when it comes to him. She simply gave him a simple nod in the direction of the bar, her eyes revealing a bit more than she realized.
