AT/D04 - Officer's Lounge

"Streetlights, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night
Workin' hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some'll win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues
Whoa, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on"

The words were uncertain to begin with, but it wasn't long before the melody became familiar again, even if the words didn't. Luckily though, the monitor reflected the lyrics as they came, and Hally's natural affinity with languages and voice bridged the gap.

As for her part in it, Hally Maxis-Darl was many things, most of them informing those around her of her less than perfect physical make up. She was often considered too short. Too skinny. Too weak. Too boyish, with only the barest of feminine curves. Her hair while an attractive color was too curly - often messy looking even when a considerable amount of time was spent on it. She wasn't homely, far from it, but the totality of her genetic mash up had resulted in her having perhaps too many imperfect qualities to be considered beautiful. Cute maybe to some, but compared to the women she encountered regularly (such as the absolute beauties she had spent the evening with), she was more on the plain or average side than not. She had spent her life trying to overcome legacy of having impressively attractive parents, but the fates had decided she wouldn't reflect those qualities and she had to live with that...

But that didn't mean she was completely devoid of fate's good fortune.

For instance, the young woman had a keen intellect - admittedly not the match of many of her stunningly gifted peers (such as Robin), she still was blistering smart as her father had claimed more than once. She had a natural gift for spatial relations which contributed to her being a damn fine pilot, but again not the match of some of the scions of flight in Starfleet. She also was among the more emotionally intelligent people, able to read others well, but more importantly able to befriend most anyone given the chance. These qualities had served to give young Hally a certain advantage that perhaps her physical abilities had limited her with.

But as her husky voice grew more confident in the music, her natural UT modulated voice had been given the opportunity to shine. Untrained, there were still moments her voice was, like so much of her, imperfect - yet the tone and timbre of her unique raspy voice carried her beyond in a way that seemed natural, emotional and powerful...

In short, Hally could SING. And sing she did!

As the words left her she placed an arm through Aeryn's as the song's lyrics rose to crescendos' and flowed from line to line, joy pouring from her as the music and companionship filled the lounge.

==Great representation of what the piano sounds like Robin! I'm thinking Hally sounds like Stevie Nicks, perhaps like this - https://youtube.com/shorts/JwH3LZ4zGpc?s...DJJnhnL3Sn ==
