Ameen listened as his senior officers gave their final thoughts. He gave a slight, almost imperceptible smile at Doctor O'Fee's "Pinocchio" comment.
A little gallows humor. Good. It means she's processing and moving forward...
He appreciated her professionalism, even if her initial approach had been a little... rigid.
He then looked to his First Officer. Keir's support and insightful perspective had been invaluable in navigating this. They had a plan, a strange one, but a plan nonetheless.
"Alright," Ameen said, pushing his chair back and standing up, a clear signal that the meeting was over. "We have our approach. Doctor, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'll expect your report on the liaison assignment."
"Commander," he turned to his First Officer. "Let's get back to the bridge. We have a dinner to oversee and a ship to run."
With that, he headed for the door, expecting Keir to follow. The 'conundrum' wasn't solved, not by a long shot, but at least now they had a direction.
