Powl's response was clinical, measured, much as Amila expected. But she wasn't dismissive of his answers, rather she was listening to them carefully, trying to grasp the Vulcan's point of view. She knew Vulcans had feelings, suppression was different than none at all, but perhaps they were suppressed to such a point that music didn't touch Torok on an emotional level.
"Okay, but Vulcans appreciate music, do they not?" Amila attempted a response to Torok when a message from the Bridge interrupted her train of thought.
[Keir to Lieutenant Ra'an. How goes the preparations; anything needed or missing? Just checking in.]
Amila sighed at the slight interruption. "I'll get back you. Hold that thought, I'm not done with you," she told Torok as she held up a finger as if to bookmark her place in their conversation. She then tapped her comm badge to respond to the First Officer's inquiry.
"Lieutenant Ra'an to Commander Keir: Smooth as can be down here. Everything is good to go, we're really just working on details like music and such right now. But, all the important stuff is locked in and taken care of. The lounge is in order, and the meal service is on schedule as planned."
Amila turned back to Torok, a whimsical grin now forming on her face. "Anyway, I was just thinking, your voice is just like another musical instrument to be played. Why not give singing a try?"
As she waited for his response she thought of how she might teach the Vulcan to sing, should he let her.
I hope he buys into this. This could be so much fun.
