With internal sensors offline due to whatever phenomenon the Yeager was currently passing through, there was no way to know who was in the area. Nor did the hatch close on command, instead returning with an error message.
It would take Jadaris several minutes to reach the Impulse deck, then several more to squeeze through the access shafts to get to the open hatch. Nothing immediately appeared amiss, but the hatch servos appeared to have burned out.
Or been burned out.
With the Impulse Engines now returning to life, Jadaris had only a few more minutes to either close the hatch, shut down the engine, or get out of the tube before he was exposed to lethal doses of radiation, and quite possibly vaporised by plasma exhaust.
