"Lieutenant," Keti said to Ra'an to announce his presence. "Transporter logs should confirm the beam up status."
Amila smiled warmly at Keti as her fellow science officer stepped on to the Bridge. "Actually, Ensign Powl was just asked by the Captain to personally monitor the transport our VIP guest from his station here," she informed him. "Great timing, actually. Do you want to man the science station?" There was also the cultural immersion holodeck program they were supposed to meet on later this afternoon, but assuming there were no major crises to handle, there may be an opportunity for them to touch base on their ideas once things slowed down here.
"It's been quiet, but we've been asked to keep an eye out for anything unusual, as always," Amila said explaining further.
Moments after Amila had finished addressing Lieutenant Jukish's arrival, Ensign Powl announced that the Mediator's transport was complete. It was the open comm line that got Amila out of her seat, though. The boisterous voice of a young male filled the Bridge, in what was obviously an enthusiastic and energetic greeting before Powl muted the comm. Amila sprung out of the command chair and quickly turned toward Powl, her eyes wide with surprise.
[Fantastic to be here! Wow, you really pulled out all the stops, didn’t you Captain?!]
The male's voice dropped to a more provocative tone as he continued: [Oh, my. Tall dark and handsome, meet tall dark and handsome!]
And then he laughed before continuing.
[Gorgeous, and tough!]
And finally a name for the voice, and the explanation that they had been waiting for.
[C’had Kestir. Mistress Kestir tragically died in her sleep the other night, they had to do an emergency surgery – woke me up at three am, can you imagine! But I’m so happy to be here. I’m properly qualified of course, I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t –wouldn't be Kestir if I wasn’t! I’m so looking forward to these three weeks together!]
Amila did not do well to suppress her amusement at the flamboyant greeting they had just overheard, a small smile playing on her lips.
Muting the channel, Powl addressed Lieutenant Ra'an who was now standing in front of the command chair. "Lieutenant, apparently Kestir, is now a different Kestir."
"So we heard," Amila acknowledged, an amused expression still on her face. "I don't suppose they have an updated dossier for us. Not that they would, C'had Kestir has existed less than a day. I suppose our orders from Trill are still the same. Attend to Kestir's every need. It seems as though that should be simple enough if he's as friendly as first impressions go anyway."
Amila turned to walk toward the Operations station, stopping just far enough back to see that the communication lines from Trill were still dark. No incoming messages, which she supposed was good news at this point. The questions about the emergency medical procedure answered simply by Kestir's arrival.
