Gath replied to the Captain, "Yes, sir. I have a couple of the crew tagged as having prior experience in Honor Guard. The VIP Security Protocols are another matter. I have at least a small squad as a short list for such taskings, but beyond that we will be pushing it for experienced crew. That training tends to be more intense and this is a small crew, but I will certainly find a way to accommodate anything that is required...sir."

It had been a long 40 hours to Trill. The ship was doing fine, but for some reason, Tom wasn't his normal self. After a bit of soul searching over too many cups of coffee, he had decided that it was not a bad thing. For the first time in a long time, he had met more than one person that could hold their own against his sassy and sometimes snarky attitude of poking fun at people and his general mockery of how ironic life could be in the universe. While the initial impact had been a bit deflating, his contemplation of the deeper meaning of it all brought him to the conclusion that there were more people on this ship than he had ever encountered before. With that thought came the realization that he had a number of potential real friends. That both delighted him and scared the heck out of him at the same time. His efforts at humor often had a purpose. In the past, his sharp wit kept people at a certain distance. When friends often died in violence, it tended to discourage too many close attachments after a while. Time would tell, but the idea of having friends again did give him a warm feeling.
Arrival at Trill was quite routine. They dropped out of warp and he entered orbit at the approach vectors given and locked in as instructed. The message from the locals was a bit odd, in his opinion. He listened to the chatter around the Bridge, but kept his opinions to himself. When the Captain mentioned to Medical about a list of potential prior hosts, he had to think hard about that one. There couldn't be any "prior hosts", since he knew he had read that after a certain point, they couldn't be separated without killing the host. He must have been referring to potential hosts who had never been joined. That had to be a very rare few Trill though. He supposed that any unjoined trill might be acceptable in an emergency. He didn't know enough about the whole thing to have much more of an opinion than that. He found the idea of a joined Trill to be a bit odd, but tried not to think too much about it. He knew a Joined trill couldn't be a fighter pilot, but that was about it.
