The nebula is dense enough to prevent warp travel. The probes could still detect a combined turbulence/ion trail where the freighter had first been detected, and Artemis could get a bit more information from where it sat outside the probe's detection radius.
Between the data provided, a course could be set pointing back towards the heart of the nebula. However, it was dissipating, and they would have to act swiftly if they wanted to follow it.
