Qi couldn’t believe how quickly the mission had changed. A previous version of him might advised the captain to call off the mission. Too much had gone wrong already, too many variables were unaccounted for. After all, it was his duty as the Chief Science Officer to protect the crew from dangerous phenomena like those that now stared them in the face.
That voice in his head still existed, but he couldn’t deny that he was excited not to be watching from the sidelines.
“Running a subspace scan now,” Qi said, quickly focusing the sensor array toward the front of the ship. “I’ll send the results to the tactical console.” He looked over at Chertstone, hoping that the tactical officer’s confidence was earned. The Yeager would be much less maneuverable than a shuttlecraft, and thus would need to know about any hazards well in advance.
