“It’s probably best to start with the dermaline gel,” she said. “Afterward, I’ll use the dermal regenerator for good measure. I can set up a privacy field if you'd prefer.”
With dermaline gel already stocked at the biobed, Kat reached for it just as the Captain’s voice echoed through the ship, making a shipwide announcement. Both Midshipmen had been reported close to the explosion, but Braggins clearly hadn’t been informed that Campbell’s body had been transported to Sickbay. That left Bremner’s chances hanging in the balance, not much better off than the engineer’s. Kat felt a wave of sorrow in her gaze as she glanced toward Cassidy. He was likely grappling with similar feelings, though whether he showed them was another matter entirely.

Another doctor had approached Dor’pam and Cassidy, which honestly made him feel a bit relieved. Dor’pam wasn’t a doctor, so he didn’t want to risk making the injury any worse than it already was. He followed the lead of the more trained personnel and wouldn’t have tried to examine their chief if it weren’t for Doctor Manx’s insistence.
“Doctor Ellis, my initial scans show second-degree burns on the exposed skin and first-degree burns where the uniform covered. I believe there’s also some thermal damage to the airways."
Typically, nurses conducted the initial assessments before falling in line behind the doctors. That was how Dor’pam had always understood it, considering he was at the bottom of the medical hierarchy. Another individual entered the medical bay, and the Andorian knew he should probably go check on them until a doctor was available. He couldn't help but wonder where their straightforward mission had gone.
“Unless you need anything else from me, I think I should head over to check on the new arrival?"
