The emergency transport functioned, but as the casualty faded into the transporter beam, Kal-Geal noticed that the tag he was using sparked a few times before going dormant. The transporter hadn't grabbed him, and left him right where he was. He sighed, hoping the morathial had worked to restart neural functions so that the biobed could take over life support, but it was a long shot. The Child of San-Tarah stood up from where he was, and put a hand on the smaller Midshipman's shoulder,
"I realize that being right out of the Academy, this must seem like a nightmare. To a graduate of the Klingon Academy, these situations are drilled into us, and some of our simulations are done without safety protocols enabled. But it never quite stops the pain you'll feel from losing your fellow officers. If you feel the need to release those emotions, I am always available to help."
Kal-Geal looked into the smouldering compartment, and added,
"Midshipman. As you are the senior officer from Security currently present, you're in charge of investigating this mess as well. Regardless of who we've lost, for the sake of the many, what you find here may save the lives of others."
