Gingerly, Papaver traced the visible connections through the exposed panels. The first connector she tried in the misguided hope it was the right one was thankfully not as spicy as it could have been.
There was a brief flash, and small jolt. “[i]Ow![/b] She exclaimed as she sucked on her finger tip to try to get feeling back in the digit.
She took another few seconds, and a second jolt to retrace the pathways again, and this time, she picked the correct connection as an audible sound of yet another panel that had been dead seconds ago, lit up and looked to be pulsing in a way that said it was transferring data of some kind.
Slowly standing up as her head was still thumping, she activated the panel above to confirm that she had managed to bypass the effected system. Then she saw her reflection in the black surface of the display.
The cut ran across the bridge of her nose, it had thankfully missed her eye, but it was looking swollen and darkened against her naturally pale complexion, and it continued up over her right brown and forehead. No wonder she felt like hell.
“How hard did I hit the floor?” She asked herself as she poked the injury before wincing again.
“Papaver to Engineering. I think I bypassed the damaged grid. I'm going to go to sickbay now...” She paused. “That's deck two isn't it.”
