[This is Papaver to... cough... to Jadris, I'm above the shuttle bay on deck... cough... Six. Sensor maintenance room. Is there any way I can help?]
Jadaris felt powerless at the moment, being he was the one watching everything go wrong all at once, but at least something was right for the moment. The comm across his badge almost got lost, but then he tapped it and said,
"Jadaris to Papaver. You don't sound so well, but I'm going to need you to reroute the internal sensor grid around the damaged junction. Can you access the rerouting controls safely? I'll send a pair of engineers to help you out if you need the assistance, but we need the internal grid back up in that section. Once you manage to get it operational, report to sickbay; you survived the Magellan, you can survive this Lieutenant."
He saw that Elliot was successful in rerouting the EPS grid and added,
"Good work Ian. It sounds like most of the fire is under control, but we still don't know what caused it. Once Papaver restored internal sensors, we should have a better view of what happened. For now, keep an eye on the fuel cell temperature, as we may still have to seal off the section and vent it to prevent a secondary explosion of the fuel cell. But I have faith in our engineers."
He decided that now was an appropriate time to give the bridge a status report though, since he hadn't given one out yet.
"Chief Engineer Jadaris to Bridge. The fire in the aeroshuttle bay is coming under control, Lieutenant Papaver is working on bypassing the internal sensor fault on deck six, but she may need some medical assistance. Emergency response team is on-site, and Ensign Elliot has rerouted EPS power around the damaged section, but we are monitoring the aeroshuttle fuel cells. If the fire spreads, we'll evacuate the section and decompress it to prevent further damage. I'll give you another update if things get worse, or we get the fire fully out and its cause determined."
Internally, he hated not being on site, but his large size in this case was a drawback instead of an asset.
