==CO Quarters==

Daniel entered his quarters and walked over to the replicator, getting himself a cold lemonade in a tall glass he moved back across the room and sat down on the couch.

In the last few days he been in a reflective mood, it might be having so many officers coming up and into acting department head roles but it reminded him of his own career and the people he had served with, those who moved on and those who they lost along the way.

Daniel had never in his wildest dreams thought he be commanding a Ross Class starship in his career but here he was doing just that.

The responsibility of Command always weighed heavy on his shoulders no matter the size of vessel or the number of crew members who were under him, each one he hoped felt valued in their position while he was in command.

It however had come at a price, his relationships had never lasted and now he was here alone in the Captains quarters with no one to actually come home to, not that he hadn't had a fair few but now in recent times it felt just strange. Maybe it was Beno coupling up or whatever the situation was between her and Talion or whatever it could be but at the moment he felt as if the world like he knew was changing once again.

Taking a sip of his lemonade, Brooks went back to his book that he been reading in the last few weeks and tried not to think about how his personal life had slipped by yet his professional had excelled.

Having dealt with the issues surrounding the complex birth of Julia's triplets and some other less critical problems the Aquila CMO found herself back to looking after far more routine matters.

Standing in front of the CO's quarters Aanil realized that direct contact with a reluctant patient was sometimes necessary. Aanil was aware that the CO was busy and with and active mission along with the recent and admittedly happy drama that it was time.

Drawing a breath, Aanil activated the door comm to the Captain's quarters and when the expected request for who was there , she simply answered:

"Someone whom you have been avoiding Captain. Chief Medical Officer Lieutenant O'Shea, Sir."

And adding in what she hoped would be interpreted as a playful tone "You've been avoiding me Captain,"

Daniel was busy into his book when the door chimed and he looked up in the direction of the door,

"Enter." he said, the door slid back to show his not long ago appointed CMO stepping through the door,

"Someone whom you have been avoiding Captain. Chief Medical Officer Lieutenant O'Shea, Sir."

"You've been avoiding me Captain," she said in a playful tone.

Daniel grinned, "Come in, take a seat O'Shea, or can I call you Aanil? If that is okay with you of course?" he asked

As put his book mark in his book and closed it, getting up he went over and placed it on his desk. He turned and leaned against it,

"Yes, somehow I become one of those officers that I hoped I never would be, the CO who avoids his medical, because the thing is having been a chief medical officer myself for a number of years I know what that has been liked. At one point through I was the most highly decorated Department Head, so I really should know better. Sorry about being such a pain." he said with a hint of sadness.

Brooks then walked back over and took a seat opposite O'Shea.

"I can clear whatever I have on and come to Sickbay for my check up." he said with a smile.

Aanil smiled at his comment about avoiding getting a check up and added. "It is a fact that people who are good at their jobs do not want to get into a situation where someone else is there to judge their readiness in that field."

Pausing she added "I have cleared my books and we will be alone in sickbay, so if you can give me an hour I think we can get this done without invloving anyone else, Sir."

Daniel listened to what Doctor O'Shea had to say and somehow he couldn't help but think it would be something he would have done back in the day with the reluctant patient.

"Yes, okay, no time like the present to get it over and done with but you know sometimes things have a nasty habit of coming up during the routine tests." he gave a wink.

Looking at the Doctor he said, "Shall we?" along with a hand gesture towards the door.

Timothy got to the door and pressed the buzzer, it took a minute for the CO to answer, when the door opened Timothy would see that the CMO was also in the quarters.

"Sir, Priority One message Sir." his voice was a little shaky as he passed Brooks the PADD.

Daniel opened up the message and looked at it for a moment, his brow farrowed.

"Southwell, thank you. Let's get to the Bridge." he said turning to O'Shea,

"Maybe another time, duty calls." Brooks winked before exiting the quarters and heading to the Bridge.
