Nurse Dawes reported directly to Sickbay when she received the transfer order. She was eager to learn more about why the sudden change in her orders and why on such short notice. None of the familiar faces she passed on her way here seemed to know any more than she did. She knew that word would eventually get around. It usually did. The buzz of it all was exciting for Charlie. The older ship had a certain charm to it that appealed to her adventurous senses.
They were departing in one hour. No patients, brand new crew it seemed. She began preparing herself by familiarizing herself with the facilities, where things were stored, and envisioning traffic flow in the patients' area. Once she was comfortable she had a feel for the layout, she began manually checking supplies against the checklist that was left behind.

Evie came into Sickbay hoping that most of the Medical Personal was going to be there, the information that could be mission critical. She had a padd in her hand that Evie was working on, it was schematics for a water tank. It was designed to keep water at a specific temperature and PH balance, it would keep the Symbiont happy and alive. The first place that Evie went to was her Office where she kept her lab coat, she enjoyed wearing them during meetings she just wasn't sure why. The other thing that she was working on was the do and do not list, if they were to have a Joined Trill they need to be prepared. Illustrating the differences between a joined Trill and one that isn't, adding in a Joined pregnant Trill. Treatments for all three would be different, but all were equally curtail. She wanted to make sure that everyone received the same information, every second wasted could be the difference. ==Open tag to both of you.==

[Doctor O'Fee to all Medical staff meeting in Sickbay in five minutes]
Charlotte was relieved to hear the Chief Medical Officer calling a meeting of the medical staff. She had been keeping herself busy getting Sickbay organized, checking that records were up to date, and attempting to assist the first officer with some preparations for an elderly guest. However, things had been slow so far, and Charlotte thrived on busy. She needed a quick pace with almost too much to do in order to feel alive. She hoped that Dr. O'Fee's meeting meant that there was more direction now and that she'd be given some more substantial talks to undertake. Out of the corner of her eye, Charlotte saw the CMO slip into her office. Charlotte stopped what she was doing and meandered to the main receiving area, making sure to catch Dr. O'Fee's eye before she grabbed a chair to wait for the others to arrive.

Emery arrived in Sickbay about 5 minutes or so after Dr. O’Fee’s call. He strode in with projected confidence, already in his own lab coat which was still starched. His name was stitched over his right chest, with beautiful cursive letters in Medical Teal that popped on his white lab coat.
He noticed the nurse, Charlotte, waiting in the main receiving area of the sickbay and gave her a nod of greeting as he walked over. She appeared to be waiting as well for Dr. O’Fee to make her appearance from where he saw her in her office. From what he recalled from his notes, the Zephyr was transporting a Trill diplomat with some very…precise requirements. Trills were fascinating to Emery, a joined species with lifetimes and centuries of memories to look back upon. This was a very unique opportunity, one that Emery was excited to be taking on. ==TAGs to All ==

At the appropriate time when everyone was assembled, Evie came out of the Office and gave a smile. Everyone who was trained to assist Medical was there, and paying attention. "Greetings everyone I am glad you all made it, there is a lot to go over." She placed a small stack of padds on a table next to her.
"For all of those whom I have not spoken to, I prefer to go by Doctor not rank." To her it always sounded better that way. "Right now we are getting ready to host a Trill Diplomat, the Host is up there in age and the Symbiont is even older. On these padds is all the information you will need to treat a Joined Trill, and not Joined. I will say if we treat a Joined Trill their golden rule we can't violate, if you have to choose to save the Host or the Symbiont. Save the Symbiont, the Host wont live long without the Symbiont. Naturally I hope this is all good information none of us will ever use." In this case it was better to have and not need. "The reason we need to know all of this is because we don't know what we are going to be dealing with, the current Host is Femail but the next can be male so that means the placement of the Symbiont will be different. Everything we use to treat them we have to keep in mind the side effects, not that anyone would think of using Blood thinners but if we did that would kill a Joined Trill. The properties of the blood would change too swiftly, and just like a fish that swam too fast through a rip tide. If the Host gets bitten by a bug of any kind, the venom that causes us a minor irritation would kill them." Evie made her point pretty clear at this point. "I have also designed a over sized water tank, it replicates to the best of our ability to provide comfort and care to the Symbiont. In the worst case scenario if something happens to the Host and we need to place the Symbiont in the tank, I need two dedicated nurses glued to the tank at all times. We should also have a back up Trill that we can place the Symbiont in, this has a window of a couple of days before it has to be perinate. This last one is our Hail Mary play when all others fail, and it is one that we can do once. Each procedure raises the risk to both Host and Symbiont, but I trust we will all use our best judgment." There was a lot of information presented, and she wanted to know if there was something she didn't cover. "Anyone have questions? If its on your mind I am sure there are others who also have them." Sometimes it happens that way. ==Tags all==

Emery listened attentively as the doctor explained their part of this trip. He knew most of the common talking points regarding Trill health and anatomy such as insect bites and blood thinners. Though Dr. O’fee talked as if this Trill was making her last trip before death, which was concerning to Emery. He always tried to look for the best outcomes in situations, yet Evie talked as if the host was so frail that they shouldn’t be traveling at all.
"Are we concerned that the Host will expire on this trip?" Emery asked the doctor, rather bluntly. The talk of water tanks and what to do if the unthinkable happens, made the question rather obvious to the young Doctor. == TAG Dr. O’fee ==
06-03-2025, 07:55 PM
The question made by the new Doctor was a good one, and chances were good that there were others with the same question in mind. There were a lot of extra preparations done for this, it could lead people to believing something was expected to happen.
"That is a great question Doctor, giving the age of the Host it is a concern. Chances are high that nothing is going to happen to her, and all of this is going to be for not. However for the same reason I keep evacuation kits in my Quarters, its better to have something in place for just incase than have nothing in place when something does happen." In every Emergency situation it is best to have some kind of plan in place before it happens. The more it is practiced the more people will remember it, that's why they do a lot of training to be in Star Fleet. "Now if there is any other question you have, I have a little work to be done before any of this has a chance to happen. Here in Sickbay I like to get ahead of any problems as a proactive approach, and less of a reactive approach. Remember when the Prince of Death comes around, we look him in the eye and say Not today Death." Evie knew they were never going to be able to stop him outright, but they could buy time. ==Tags ==

Charlotte nodded in understanding at the instructions.
"Dr. O'Fee, once you have a list of items that need to be requisitioned, and any other to do lists, I'm happy to run point on getting everything together for you," Charlotte offered. "Are you thinking here in Sickbay? Or is this something we just need to be ready to prepare should a situation arise?" She asked. ==Tag O'Fee==
06-06-2025, 08:15 PM
Before Evie could answer, she had a perplexed look on her face while turning to the door. It was a bad feeling about something, she just wasn't sure about what. Something just didn't feel right, but it wasn't exactly clear at all.
Turning her attention to Charlotte. "This is something I would like to have ready for just in case, after this mission we can dispose of it." The model would simulate the living conditions of the Symbiont. It would be small enough to be stored anywhere, but not really needed. ==Tag==
06-08-2025, 03:36 AM
Emery looked at the both of them with concern. In his mind he thought that they were tempting fate by preparing these tanks and options for if the symbiont needed to be transplanted. As a surgeon, Emery would love to be involved in the transplant. As a Starfleet Officer, he was a bit mortified that they would even be thinking the worse could happen.
"I can assist with the set up of the tanks. I'll also brush up on the transplant procedures in case." Emery stated matter of factly. ==TAG==
06-13-2025, 08:23 AM
There wasn't much to think about when it came to the question, the more he knew about the system the better.
"That's a great idea, and even though I it had one tank in mind two is a better idea." It was always better to have a backup plan that never gets used, than to need one only not to have one. There was something on her bothering her, but still unaware of what it was going to be. ==Tag==

==After 30 Hour Time Skip==
Charlotte made a point to catch up with the Chief Medical Officer the following day when she saw an opportunity where they both seemed to have a moment. "Hey, Dr. O'Fee, I was hoping to catch up with you," Charlotte mentioned casually as she approached Evie. "I couldn't help but notice that something seemed to be bothering you, or maybe just distracting you yesterday. I wanted to see if everything was okay, and if there was anything extra I could be pitching in with to help you out?" Charlotte offered. "Doesn't matter if it's personal or professional, you know. I just want to help if I can." ==Tag==

==After the 30 hour skip.==
After the thirty hours of waiting, Evie still hadn't figured out what happened the day before. It was also something that she put behind her, if there was or wasn't anything to it was yet to be seen. I just want to help if I can." Evie smiled when she noticed Charlotte in Sickbay again. "That is something that happens from time to time, I had a strange feeling like something happened.. I am not sure what it was, or even if it is just a figment of my imagination. Until I know something for sure, I am brushing it off as nothing until I have something conclusive to work with." There were some reports to go over, perhaps there might be more answers there. "I have a feeling that the answer should be coming through the door at any time." Evie wasn't sure what was going to happen, but it was going to be clear soon. ==Tag and GM does she get the report about the switch? Plus any relevant medical data?==
06-16-2025, 11:34 AM
"I get that. Or a feeling like something is going to happen," Charlotte said nodding in understanding. "Human instinct is a real thing, I try not to ignore it though I do have a surefire trick for false alarms if you like a little adventure. We could try to get some holodeck time later and I could show you," she offered.
Charlotte enjoyed participating in a number of adventure sports: rock climbing, base jumping, parasailing... She was certain she had a program she could entice the doctor with. And while holodeck safety protocols tended to make holoprograms not as effective as the real thing, she found there was nothing better than a soft adrenaline rush to stave off any false worries and do a nice factory reset on the brain. "We can invite the new doctor, make it a team building exercise," she added. ==Tag - no pressure for the doc to accept. ==
06-17-2025, 08:40 PM
Evie did like team building building exercises, they really brought people together. In Sickbay they had to work as if they were one, and a successful activity would go a long way towards that. There were a number of programs that could help with that, but this was her idea, and Evie wanted to hear more.
"Please tell me more about this program." She said with a smile, and if all went well they will be the best team ever. ==Tag Sorry for the short one==

The Trill have not sent over any data regarding the Mediator’s recent surgery.
However, if called to, C’had Kestir would certainly be willing to strip for a medical exam.
06-19-2025, 02:14 AM
Emery was standing nearby when Charlotte suggested an adventure on the holodeck, and was about to walk up and say something, when a comm from Commander Ameen interrupted them.
[Ameen to Sickbay. The dossier's medical information on the host is now obviously out of date. Can you advise on any general dietary or medical considerations for a new Trill host following an emergency joining? We need to ensure the menu is appropriate.] Emery looked at Dr. O’Fee, “Do we have more information on the new host? Gender, age, preferences for foods? I need a baseline to give you more specifics.” Emery promptly replied. The plan had changed, the host, bolterius and healthy from the sound of things. Flirtatious too. Emery was concerned and it showed on his face as he looked at Dr. O’fee. His head tilting as he waited to hear the answer to his questions. “Doctor, I would suggest we bring him in for an exam, as a health and safety measure. General health check for the voyage” == TAG ==
06-19-2025, 09:36 PM
The communication came inn about the new host, and that shifted everything. It also reinforced why she put out the information about Male and Female Hosts. One day the Host can be either or, but there was always some kind of danger that gets associated with it.
Before Evie could say something, her new Doctor had raised similar concerns. “Do we have more information on the new host? Gender, age, preferences for foods? I need a baseline to give you more specifics.” Emery promptly replied. Evie knew he had a point, they did need this information from the new Host, all depending on the age of the Host and or if there were additional allergies. “Doctor, I would suggest we bring him in for an exam, as a health and safety measure. General health check for the voyage” "Agreed Doctor." Evie said before tapping her Combadge. [Sickbay to Commander Ameen, it is imperative that the new Host checks in Sickbay, the risk of rejection in a new host is high and there is only a small window of time to avoid anything serious.] Turning her attention to McEntyre. "Doctor as a new Host they have a window of seventy two hours before the joining has to be perinate, after that it will be fatal to the Host if it has to be removed." There was need to have a checkup considering the window of time didn't allow time for healing, sure with modern medicine the recovery time is a lot shorter but still required. Just like getting an organ transplant, the body itself could attack the Symbiont making matters much worse. ==Tag Doctor==

[Acknowledged, Doctor.] Ameen replied. [He will be enroute to you shortly.]

Escorted by the impressively large Klingon that was the Security Chief, C'Had Kestir strolled into Sickbay, not looking one bit as intimidated as he should have been. In fact, he appeared to be quite at ease, which turned to seemingly amused as he took a few steps into Sickbay. "Hello, doctors." The Trill said, smiling. "You just couldn't wait to take my clothes off, hm? All right, I'll take off my shirt, but I don't think your Security would want to be in the room for much longer after that." A playful smile was directed at Gath.

Gath dutifully escorted Kestir to Sickbay. Upon arrival, he dismissed the other Security officers so that they could change into their duty uniforms. He quickly mentioned to Sam that she would need to change the rosters to reflect the increased manning requirements, but that she was at liberty to adjust it as she saw fit. She would need to inquire with the Captain about the details for the dinner, but the rest was pretty straight forward.
When Kestir made his small attempt at humor, Gath simply replied, "I will let you and the medical staff do what is required. I will stand by in the waiting area." Gath made sure to meet the eyes of Lt Evie O'Fee and gave her a polite nod and simple but respectful acknowledgement, "Doctor..." == Tag to the medical staff and GM as needed. It didn't take too long before her new patient to come through the doors with Gath was with him. "This is not what I expected, even though I knew it was a possibility at some point this mission." She said before he started to speak.
"Hello, doctors." The Trill said, smiling. "You just couldn't wait to take my clothes off, hm? All right, I'll take off my shirt, but I don't think your Security would want to be in the room for much longer after that." A playful smile was directed at Gath. "Keep your trousers on Vanilla Bean, it sounds more like you are wanting to take them off more than anything." There were a few facts that Evie needed to sort out first, starting with the window of time that she was dealing with. "The first thing we need to know closely followed by the secondary question. How long ago did the joining process happen? and why were we not informed?" In a situation like this she should have been informed, just like any medications to avoid creating a new hazard. "If you want some privacy we can use O.R. one if you like." "I will let you and the medical staff do what is required. I will stand by in the waiting area." Gath made sure to meet the eyes of Lt Evie O'Fee and gave her a polite nod and simple but respectful acknowledgement, "Doctor..." Evie gave Gath eye contact as well with a smile. "Gath." She did appreciate that he was there, more than likely because it was just policy. Right now she was gauging the response of the new Host. ==Tags and GM input please==

“Vanilla Bean?!” C’Had repeated, laughing and looking amused. He sat down at the end of a bed and did his best to look attentive, seeming to respect the CMO that was able to banter with him.
“To answer your first question, the Joining took place the night before last. I’m coming up on hour 33 of 93. I was to join with Kestir anyway, but she insisted she was healthy enough to do one more trip. I knew she was just being stubborn, which I respected, but then she went and died on us all, rushing everything. “The medical team that responded to Kestir’s house-staff didn’t inform the council of what was happening until we were almost done in surgery – they were really only concerned with keeping Kestir alive. Anything else was inconsequential.” He shrugged. “I feel okay.” C’Had admitted. “Transporter made me feel a little light-headed, but I recovered using my charm and wit.”
06-28-2025, 11:19 PM
Charlotte watched the interaction between the patient and Dr. O'Fee with interest. He seemed to enjoy being a handful, and Dr. O'Fee handled him with ease - no doubt not the first time an overly flirtatious patient had visited her medical facilities.
"Your charm and wit?" Charlie quipped from her position to the left and slightly behind the doctor. "Has that helped you out quite a bit in life, or is this a newly acquired skill?" She asked. ==Tags==

Emery was a blushing mess. The trill before them was, for a lack of a better word: drop dead gorgeous. Though for the Caitain, he was super obvious about it, at least his face was. He blushed deep red, shyly turning his head to hide the fact and thankful for the layer of fur from his Caitain heritage to hide it. The Trill's comments were certainly something, Emery thought, Charm and Wit would be something that Emery would have thought would be helpful. He was neither charming nor witty.
Charlotte’s comment on it though, made him smile. “Perhaps, Ambassador Kestir, you would like an escort over to the biobed. We’ll try to make our exams as painless as possible.” Emery said with a coy smile, trying at least to be as flirty as the Ambassador was. Something about this trill made Emery’s heart race, in a good way, his blush getting only deeper as he tried his own flirtations. ==TAGS==

Both parties would be united, and the memories that go along with it. "I have made my people aware if it comes to saving the host or the symbiont, save the symbiont because without it the Host still dies." Evie knew that Trill that get trained to Host are aware of this fact, and they still agree to it. "Your charm and wit?" Charlie quipped from her position to the left and slightly behind the doctor. "Has that helped you out quite a bit in life, or is this a newly acquired skill?" She asked. At first Evie wasn't sure how to respond, it was just in her nature. "Its an Irish thing, I learned to walk in a pub where this language is common. Sometimes it doesn't stop there, it has stopped more pub fights than I care to admit. "She had a devilish smile. "Another Irish thing." “Perhaps, Ambassador Kestir, you would like an escort over to the biobed. We’ll try to make our exams as painless as possible.” If he wanted to do the examination, Evie wasn't going to stand in his way. About roughly an hour after the VIP had reported to sickbay a call came in.
[Ameen to Doctor O'Fee.] Commander Ameen said. [Doctor, I apologize for the interruption if you're in the middle of a delicate procedure, but I need a preliminary report on Mediator Kestir. What is his immediate condition? Is the symbiont stable in the new host?]

As C’had allowed the good doctor to examine him, a fuzzy figure came into his peripheral vision. Not blurry, but truly fuzzy: blonde, and big, and blushing. Dr. O’Fee’s red hair was blindingly gorgeous, but the seven-foot-tall feline being was not someone to be ignored.
“Of course I’ll go to the bed with you.” C’had said smoothly, though he was now looking at the Caitain. As he walked over, he reached his hands down, his arms in a cross-cross pattern. He pulled off his shirt in one fluid motion, revealing a fit body, along with a hairless torso. Peeking out from his waistline was skin darkened by fine, dark hairs, the wisp giving the suggestion of more body hair. Perhaps more notable than the hinting body hair was the form moving under C’had’s skin. Where a human’s small and large intestines lay coiled was where a Trill’s symbiont nestled. This particular symbiont moved slowly, the under-the-surface shifting appearing to not bother the host at all. “Someone’s happy to see you!” C’had joked to Dr. O’Fee - though he winked at Emery.

Evie was about to answer the Commander, but there was a bit of a development. The Host and symbiont were safe however there was still a bit of a problem, and no matter what the training they received nothing can prepare them for this. The memories of the pervious hosts can still actively interfere with the current host, or combine a mixture of personalities. Tapping her Combadge to reply. [Commander we have a conundrum, it would be best if we had a private conversation in fifteen minutes.] Her tone took a more serious tone before speaking again. "C'had I am going to be as honest with you as I can, you have exactly ten minutes to show me that you can conduct yourself in a professional manner, and the final part of memories integration is complete. We need to make sure that the behavior displayed here isn't going to impact the negotiation, if you are the skilled diplomat we need you will accomplish this feat in under five." If the Host was of sound mind the challenge shouldn't be much of a problem, if the previous Hosts still had an impact he would need more time before the damage could be done. Her tone said that she wasn't messing around, there was too much riding on how he can conduct himself. ==GM input please.==

“Of course I’ll go to the bed with you.” C’had said smoothly, though he was now looking at the Caitian. As he walked over, he reached his hands down, pulling off his shirt in one fluid motion, revealing a fit body, along with a hairless torso. Peeking out from his waistline was skin darkened by fine, dark hairs.
“Don’t be obvious, Emery” Emery thought to himself, but it was clear by the stare that he was taken. Especially that comment of going to bed with him that the Trill made. Emery never really thought that he was attractive much. Sure he had guys tell him he was, but being Half Betazed also came with its own set of problems, glancing thoughts and hearing them from others on occasion. Not that he really went in deeply to refine his nascent mental powers, he didn’t have that much of them being only half. Perhaps more notable than the hinting body hair was the form moving under C’had’s skin. Where a human’s small and large intestines lay coiled was where a Trill’s symbiont nestled. This particular symbiont moved slowly, the under-the-surface shifting appearing to not bother the host at all. Emery knew it was the symbiont. The worm-like creature housed hundreds of years of memories that formed a symbiotic relationship with its host. To be honest, Emery thought that was kinda cool, having all that experience to draw on, like a headstart to things. “Someone’s happy to see you!” C’had joked to Dr. O’Fee - though he winked at Emery. That made Emery blush even deeper. He shied his head to the side to try to hide the massive blush he had. The butterflies in his stomach. This Trill was absolutely gorgeous and there was no way that those in sickbay couldn’t already tell. Emery was nothing if not painfully obvious, his emotions on his sleeves. Emery knew, somewhere, that he may end up taking a fancy to this Trill…if only for the short time that C’had was aboard the ship. Emery’s thought’s were interrupted by Dr. O’Fee’s abrupt instructions to C’had. After suggesting the Captain come to Sickbay for a private meeting, she had turned her attention back to the Trill. "C'had I am going to be as honest with you as I can, you have exactly ten minutes to show me that you can conduct yourself in a professional manner, and the final part of memories integration is complete. We need to make sure that the behavior displayed here isn't going to impact the negotiation, if you are the skilled diplomat we need you will accomplish this feat in under five,” O’Fee ordered. “Is there anything you need, Doctor?” Emery finally snapped out of his thoughts when he heard her give the Trill the abrupt orders. Stern and forceful in her tone. Emery didn’t think being that mean would get them anywhere but he was still too junior to question his Chief on that point. ==TAG==

(This post was last modified: 07-07-2025, 07:31 PM by Evie O’Fee.)
The room was still, save for the subtle hum of equipment and the occasional soft rustle of clothing as someone shifted uncomfortably. The door clicked shut behind the new Doctor, a tall, sharp-eyed resident just weeks into his rotation. He stood near the edge of the room, uncertain, one hand resting against his clipboard like it was a shield.
Evie glanced at him. His face was composed, but she could read the tension in his jaw, the faint hesitancy in his posture. He was watching the young man sitting across from them—head in hands, shoulders hunched—not just as a physician, but as a peer. The moment was delicate, and they both knew it. “Is there anything you need, Doctor?” he asked quietly. Evie’s eyes lingered on the young man a moment longer before she turned. She softened her voice, careful and deliberate. “The truth?” she said, folding her arms gently. “I need you here. But I’ll understand if you'd rather step out.” The Doctor straightened slightly, unsure whether to take that as an invitation or a test. Evie continued, her tone shifting with subtle authority. “Actually, there is something. But it’s your choice.” She took a slow breath, measured, almost weary with the weight of leadership. “We need to get him through this—quietly, and quickly. When he looks back on this, it’s going to sting. He’s embarrassed already. Right now, what happened is confined to this room. That’s a gift. And none of us,” she paused, making eye contact with each person in the room, “are going to talk about it beyond this door.” The air in the room thickened with mutual understanding. Evie looked back to the Doctor. “If this same behavior plays out during conference, the consequences will be more severe. There won’t be time to shield him from the fallout. And his embarrassment?” She shook her head gently. “It won’t be private anymore. It’ll be public. Career-altering. Trust-damaging.” A beat passed. Everyone wanted the same thing—for him to bounce back, to return to the competent, composed version of himself they all knew. They weren’t protecting ego—they were protecting potential. Evie’s voice dropped to something more personal, but no less firm. “If you want to stay and be part of this, I welcome that. If not, I suggest you take a breather. Get some air. Regroup.” Evie watched him, not judging. Just observing. “The best kind of leaders,” she said quietly, “figure out what kind they’re going to be during moments like this. Especially in their junior years. And no one—not me, only you—can make that choice for you. But we can help clear the path.” She stepped aside, letting the silence speak for a moment. Evie looked up to him now, not invading, but anchoring. “I’m not going to tell you this doesn’t matter,” she said gently. “Because it does. But what matters more is how you recover. That’s what people will remember.” She looked up at the Doctor, eyes steady. “So,” she said, “what kind of doctor do you want to be?” The room waited—not for an answer, but for a decision. ==Tag Doctor -Still waiting on GM input==

The male Trill looked shocked, surprised, and whatever else his slightly-bushy manicured eyebrows could show. Then, his eyes showed a clear look of resignation, and his posture changed.
His spine was not ram-rod straight, but his shoulders were square enough that it showed he knew how to carry himself in a serious conversation. He wasn’t a soldier or a Starfleet officer, so his stance (albeit sitting down) was not at full attention, but his mood had certainly changed to be respectful. “My name is C’had Kestir.” He spoke, his voice at a much quieter register than his previous, boisterous attitude had held. “I have been studying the art of negotiation since I was 15 years old, and head of every debate team I could find since I was 16. I have degrees in Conflict Resolution, PolySci, Governmental Politics, Exobiology, and Sociology.” A deep breath resonated throughout him, as if it almost embarrassed him to list his qualifications. “I have been a candidate for the Symbiont Program since I achieved my second degree and caught the Council’s eye. Kestir chose me herself, and assured me that it would still be some time before I was to be joined. It was a great honor to be chosen by someone held in as high regard as her, even though –well, especially since– our views on life were so different.” After allowing for a pause that may have been mixed with deep embarrassment, C’had told the red-headed, steel-minded doctor, “I am ready for my responsibilities, Dr. O’Fee. I also think… the Symbiont really hasn’t had sex in a couple hundred years. And they need to relax.”

“I am ready for my responsibilities, Dr. O’Fee. I also think… the Symbiont hasn’t had sex in a couple hundred years. And they need to relax.”
She looked directly at her doctor. “That took less than two minutes,” she said flatly—making it clear that sometimes, you had to play hardball to get the answers that mattered. “Here’s what’s going to happen: you’re going to start with a round of apologies—beginning with Emery. He’s a fine doctor who deserves respect. Then you’re going to promise that this little display won’t happen again. Anywhere. Ever.” Her tone was stern—unyielding. “After that, I’ll call the Commander and report that you’re ready to resume your duties—under supervision. Just to ensure everything stays medically sound.” Her priority was clear: protect the integrity of the department, and just as importantly, the dignity of everyone within it. “As for that second thing,” she added, eyes narrowing slightly—referring to the subject of sex, “as Chief Medical Officer, I can’t and won’t stop it if he chooses to pursue it. But—” she turned to Emery, now speaking as a potential friend, “I’ll say this to you directly.” “I’ve seen this kind of thing unfold a hundred times—someone gets dazzled by the moment, they jump into bed, and in the morning, when the reality sets in, one or both people lose their self-respect.” Her voice softened slightly, but the truth in her words stayed sharp. “If you’re going to do this, do it in a way that lets you hold your head high afterward. You have every reason to stand tall. Don’t let one night take that from you—not even for a second.” ==Tag Doctor and GM input please.==

Charlotte was beginning to feel uncomfortable, and it wasn’t Kestir’s blatant flirting that had her rattled. She was more concerned about the way the Chief Medical Officer was calling everyone’s behavior out publicly. While the advice she was giving may have been sound, taking each individual aside would have saved the potential for a lot of embarrassment.
She cleared her throat somewhat loudly as if to remind everyone that she was present. “Well, I think everyone is old enough to make their own decisions." She turned to Kestir and good-naturedly added, "And I’ve certainly seen more disruptive theatrics in Sickbay than a little strip tease. What’s important is that you’re well. And now that we know that you are, I think we can all joke about this later." She smiled at him, though was careful not to send the wrong message. She was reaching for a sisterly vibe, as opposed to a flirtatious one. "And, no need to apologize on my behalf, you seem like a spirited person, and I'm sure we'll enjoy having you on board these next three weeks. We can find some other ways for you to have fun while you're here as well.” ==Tags==

“No apology needed for me either.” Emery put a hand up dismissing the notion. “Or wanted. Perhaps, we could talk more later this evening, at dinner. There’s one being planned in your honor,” Emery suggested, timid. Evie had really laid into him which, in much of the way a parent would chastise a small child. It made Emery feel like a kitten again, when he did something wrong, or out of line with Starfleet regs. He hated that feeling.
Even if the Doctor was right, it still didn’t have to be publicly like this, his chastisement. He was, after all, a grown adult. He was capable of making his own choices and decisions about who he’d like to be with and whom he took to bed. It didn’t really matter what she thought in the end. ==Tags==

Not saying another word on the subject Evie simply tapped her combadge. "Evie to Commander Ameen everything is condition green, I will have my report ready for you the next hour." She closed the channel and moved on.
Her tone softened before speaking again. "My people have spoken, and I will respect their wishes. Just know I will not tolerate that kind of behavior here, this is a place of healing considered to be a safe place for all. Now if you will excuse me I have that report to file, Charlotte I would appreciate your help with that." She left to her Office, and became comfortable, the report that she was writing had to show only the medical concerns. There were still a few concerns that she had, and that little display had no place in the report. She kept it professional, and made a hot cup of tea. [Chief Medical Report. As being a new Host the merger is going smoothly, as long as stress remans low there shouldn't be an issue. I am not without concern when it comes to the Host Symbiont merger, the concern is for the next forty hours personality traits from previous hosts can randomly come to the surface. If there was some Medical supervision we can nip any problem in the bud, after the forty hours the personalities will not surface in an uncontrolled manor. It is my recommendation that Doctor Tyris-McEntyre take lead in his care, Nurse Dawes should work with him. ] It was the first draft that still needed work, now she just needed a little more time to sort this out. ==Tag and GM input==

Things had gotten weird in Sickbay, and it hadn’t been because C’had had suggested a threesome or foursome. Though he may have been thinking it, something much stranger happened: The Chief Medical Officer acted very much the part of School Marm, complete with chastising her underlings.
If the mediator had been thinking of respecting the CMO, all that clearly went out the window as he let his facial expressions speak for themselves. And when Charlotte and Emery stood up to her, C’had’s face shone brightly. He watched as the CMO retreated to her office, and the now-familiar smirk came back over his face, replacing the sour one the woman had forced on there just minutes before. The pretty kitty told C’had of the dinner, and he hopped off the bio bed, grinning wide. “That sounds fantastic!” He said, not making a move to put his shirt back on. The symbiont inside him, which had been on the move, now seemed to settle completely. “If there’s fun to be had,” he said, his attention briefly on Nurse Dawes, “You must show me!” He kept his tone playful with her, especially since he then turned to the Caitian. “And as long as you’ll be my escort to the dinner?” There was a definite flirtatious tone back in his voice.

"Well, I'll leave you two alone. Dr. O'Fee did request my help," Charlotte commented, eager to not stand in the way of whatever it was that C'had and Emery were up to. "But, it was a pleasure. You certainly made the day more interesting, Mediator Kestir. And feel free to reach out later this week, we can get the fun crew together for a little something. You seem like you might like karaoke. Or maybe mini-golf? We can work the details out later. You two have fun tonight."
Charlotte winked at Emery before making her way to the CMO office. She tapped on the door and stuck her head in. "Doctor, did you want to see me? Or are you just looking for my report? Either way, I can get it to you right away." ==Tags==

Evie looked up and smiled when Charlotte asked her question. "Actually its a little of both, please sit down it will take a little while." Evie had her full attention on Charlotte.
"I have signed off on his ability to perform his duties, medically he is perfectly sound, there is still a sixty hour window of concern that things can make a turn for the worse. A safer margin would tack on another ten, I have stated that under medical supervision everything should be fine." She let it sink in a little before volunteering more information. "I feel in this timeframe both you and Doctor McEntre should monitor him to make sure they stay healthy, I am not saying any of you have to be with him every second of the day. Just while he is preforming his duties that is high in stress, and cause a problem with the symbiont." Evie was aware that she didn't need to explain in full the effect of stress on a persons body, the big concern would be if his body started to attack the Symbiont. "Because of the scale of Diplomacy involved I feel having an report from the Head Nurse it would carry more weight, if you would like to add something or have me change something please let me know." It was important to her that everyone knew that their opinion always did matter to her. ==Tags==

Emery nodded, maybe he did a little too enthusiastically but he most definitely got the hint and most definitely was receptive to the idea. It wasn’t that he was oblivious, Emery just wasn’t a very social person. It took a bit to warm up to people, but this trill had something about him that made Emery feel like a teenager again, blushing on the thought of his first love. “I would be honored to be your escort for the evening.” The Caitian smiles, blushing once more. Emery held out a paw to take C’had’s hand. A small but romantic gesture, but hopefully one he’d be receptive too. “Can I walk you out? Emery asked. ==TAGS==

Evie looked up and smiled when Charlotte asked her question. "Actually its a little of both, please sit down it will take a little while." Evie had her full attention on Charlotte.
Charlotte took a deep breath and had a seat. She wasn't sure what was coming, but knew she had taken a risk when she had stood up for Emery and Kestir on the Sickbay floor. She listened attentively as Dr. O'Fee continued. "I have signed off on his ability to perform his duties, medically he is perfectly sound, there is still a sixty hour window of concern that things can make a turn for the worse. Charlotte waited a beat to make sure that Dr. O'Fee was finished before responding. Charlotte nodded in understanding. "Of course, Doctor. I'll fill out a report right away. I'm also happy to coordinate with security and make sure that they know we need a medical professional around generally for the next sixty to seventy hours or so. And I have no problems volunteering myself for that duty." Charlotte paused a moment before adding. "As far as Dr. Tyrus-McEntyre, I do not doubt his qualifications, or his professionalism at all. But, I am wondering if a conflict might be developing that would preclude Kestir from being Dr. Tyrus-McEntyre's patient. And maybe simple observation isn't technically a Doctor-Patient relationship, so it might be a non-issue. I just thought it worth bringing up that before I came back to your office that Mediator Kestir did ask the Doctor out on a date." ==Tag==

(This post was last modified: 07-12-2025, 08:31 PM by Evie O’Fee.)
Evie couldn't hide the look of delight on her face upon hearing the news. A first date would give them both the chance to truly get to know each other. It allowed time—for connection, for clarity—and a graceful way to decide if there was something more worth pursuing. More importantly, it preserved their self-respect.
Sure, things could still go south—just like any other relationship—but those were the same risks anyone would take in a heartbeat. "What matters most," Evie said softly, "is that they're going on a date, not just acting on impulse. I hope it goes well. Everyone deserves a shot at happiness." The mission wouldn't be a long one, but it would be enough time for two people to enjoy each other's company. That alone felt like a win. "We’re both trying to look out for his best interests," she continued. "At least, that's how it felt out there. But I’m not sure that’s how my actions were received by those I was trying to protect." If she'd chosen to stay and fight, the message would’ve been lost entirely—twisted, even. Worse, it might've reinforced a stance she never meant to take. "As for the attending physician status—yes, I’m listed. But there’s no conflict in being both doctor and caregiver in this case." She paused. "Ironically, the real conflict would be if I weren’t his attending physician. As Chief Medical Officer, he'd see me as an authoritarian figure. That alone would keep his guard up, trigger stress responses, and potentially cause medical complications. And that... that would violate the Hippocratic Oath. That’s what I want to avoid." She glanced over, tone shifting slightly. "Ordinarily, a supervising physician wouldn't need a third party. But in this case, having you accompany him will resolve any ethical grey areas. As Head Nurse, you carry the medical authority over Kestir’s supervision. That alone clears the path." Her voice stayed soft. "My priorities for this department are simple: protect the integrity of the work, and ensure my staff are respected. You can’t have one without the other." Evie stood, brushing imaginary lint from her uniform. "I’ve got a report to deliver to the Commander—it’s due, and I believe it’s best delivered in person." She offered a small, meaningful smile. "Unless there’s anything else, I’m needed on the Bridge." She paused just before stepping out. "As for the date—let’s give them space. And maybe a bottle of good wine to make the night a little more special." With that, Evie waited a beat, then exited toward the Bridge. >>>> Bridge>>>>

Charlotte listened carefully, relieved that her own words on the Sickbay floor hadn't seemed to offend the Chief Medical Officer. It had certainly not been her intention. And, she was surprised to see the doctor encouraging - no even excited to hear about the possibility of Kestir and Emery spending more time together. As far as her orders went, they were simple enough to understand, the report would be done quickly - the rest of it though, and how easy it would be to "supervise" Kestir... well, she would do her best.
Charlotte simply nodded, realizing that Dr. O'Fee had pressing matters to get to. "I understand, Doctor. I'll get you a report within the next hour, and I'll make sure we're keeping an eye on things. As long as we keep it fun, I don't think he'll object too much." Charlotte stood up and followed Evie out of her office as she left.

While keeping a professionally discreet distance from Kestir, Gath moved next to Ens Dawes and asked in a hushed tone, "If it is sex Kestir is after, why not make use of an entertainment program designed for the purpose? If that is insufficient, then it is not actually sex he is after."
Gath's expression was one of concern, but what he wasn't saying was that he had learned to profile certain behaviors and the current display of behavior had potentially worrisome elements that he felt a need to keep an eye on. He was concerned for the safety of the crew. == Tag Dawes ==

Gath moved next to Ens Dawes and asked in a hushed tone, "If it is sex Kestir is after, why not make use of an entertainment program designed for the purpose? If that is insufficient, then it is not actually sex he is after."
Charlotte leaned slightly toward Gath, a wry grin on her face as she replied in an equally hushed tone. "Well, I was just asked to hang out for the next few days and make sure we don't have any issues. I could suggest it." She turned her head to look at him more squarely and added, "Unless you want to. Could be a fun guy's night of whatever guys do at those. You could slip out when he looks like he's about to get lucky. Or don't." Charlotte playfully snickered. "I don't judge. And I promise to keep it our little secret. Nurse's Honor." She was goading him now, testing his sense of humor. Always dangerous around a Klingon, but Charlotte liked to live on the edge. ==Tag Gath==

Gath raised his eyebrow and tilted his head in a mildly approving way at Charlotte's suggestion of mentioning a hologram to solve their problems. Then she continued, suggesting a much more detailed idea of her own, that caught him a bit off guard. As much as he tried to remain stoic, she had broken through his defenses. He managed to check himself before actually laughing out loud and giving away their conversation, but his smile was unhidden as his silenced himself until he recovered.
Still grinning at her, he replied, "I don't personally use the programs for that, but someone I served on a ship with opened my eyes to certain subtle elements of the programs and they changed my life. I have spent time in some programs that are quite...sophisticated. I'm sure that I could find something that would cater to his desires, but if it is not actually about the physical satisfaction and is about some other motivation, I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable helping him to satisfy more dangerous urges." He became more serious again, "I have no intent on getting in the way of mutual attractions or even simple fun. I have no place in judging what consenting adults do behind closed doors. When it comes to controlling, dominating or hurting others, then I tend to have an opinion on the matter. I'm sure that might sound strange, considering how aggressive Klingon courtships can be, but I'm very serious about making my crew feel safe." He had shown no defensiveness or shame in her suggesting he introduce Kestir to the idea of using a program and his concern was expressed in a genuine way. He then added, "The idea that you will be shadowing him for a bit makes me feel better for all concerned. Someone from Security will be within earshot at all times and he is not to be alone unless in quarters or other such private accommodations. Should you ever feel unsafe, there will be someone near. However, you don't strike me as a woman who frightens easily." Gath hesitated, which was unlike him. He considered how easily she disarmed his normally serious and stoic manner of presenting himself most of the time. It helped him remain clear headed and focused on business, but he was aware that it also kept people at a distance. He didn't know much about Charlotte, but there was something about her that made it harder to stay behind those invisible walls. He supposed that was to be expected when you started becoming friends with people. Those thoughts in his head did not bother him and he was fine with that. Realizing that she had been daring enough to offer such a playful jab at him increased his fondness of her. That sort of spirit was something he appreciated. Without missing a beat, he then said to her, "By the way, should you ever feel the need to explore such a program, I'm sure that it is a very simple matter to find something that you might find...um...entertaining. I don't judge. I also promise to keep it our little secret. On my honor." Using her own words back to her, he raised an eyebrow and gave a bit of a devilish grin. She was sassy. Their small conversation had been a very welcome change from his baby sitting of Kestir. == Tag Dawes ==

As Nurse Dawes took her leave of them, C'had looked after her almost wistfully. "Ah, well." He half-commented to Emery, half to himself, "Fun is fun, but consent is consent." He walked out of Sickbay hand-in-paw with the medical officer, waiting to see when his Security attache would show up.
"Right back to my Quarters?" He asked, "Or am I allowed to tour the ship?" He raised a questioning eyebrow at the Security, as if waiting for an answer with a sharp attitude. ==Tags to Emery and whichever Security officer has decided to take up the watch==

Charlotte grinned, pleasantly surprised and pleased to hear the Klingon officer open up. She stepped further into the waiting area and away from the patient and Emery as he spoke and carefully noted the specific concerns that he was most worried about. Charlotte did not get a sense from Kestir that he was any sort of threat - only that he was quite the flirt and with a flair for the dramatic. Of course, Gath was thinking like a Chief Security Officer, it was his job to be predictive of the worst possible outcomes and prepared for them.
After taking in Gath’s relatively professional response and his assurances regarding Security’s presence, Charlotte was caught quite off guard when Gath threw her jab back at her. When he offered that she might be entertained by one of the holodeck’s special purpose programs, she was so close to laughing out loud that her right hand reflexively jerked toward her face to cover her mouth in an attempt to hide her amusement, her eyes watering from the effort it took to hold back her laugh. “Well-played,” she conceded, after quickly regaining composure. “Well-played.” “And, I don’t scare easily, thank you for noticing,” she added, a cheeky grin on her face. “Though, I’m not too worried about C’had. He seems harmless. What we saw here was nothing really. If a patient isn’t actively trying to put hands on me or hurling insults, I don’t have complaints. A lot of people his age have high libidos, healthy self-esteem. Fortunately for him, he’s charismatic. I'm sure he'll make plenty of friends on board.” “I doubt an unjoined person can ever really understand this whole symbiont thing,” Charlotte admitted. “But you have to think, being a centenarian with mobility issues one day, and then waking up with that body. I think I'd have some steam to blow off too." ==Tag Gath==
07-21-2025, 04:48 PM
Gath's grin returned when Charlotte speculated about the need to blow off some steam, as she put it. He gave a small nod of agreement, "I suppose I can't really argue the point, when you put it like that." He turned and seemed to consider her in a new light for a moment, but in an approving way, "However, you do leave an impression upon me as a woman that I would greatly enjoy an endless number of thought provoking conversations or even debates on such matters. My parents were scientists and educators who instilled in me a mind for curiosity and understanding of all things. Unfortunately, that has become a rarity among most Klingons, so finding someone with whom I could enjoy such mental exercises was...well...in my experience, it is rare. When combined with a good sense of humor and sharp wit, such a find becomes even more rare. I hesitate to say..."
That was when Kestir posed the question as he was leaving Sickbay. It caused Gath to not finish, his duties calling him to address their unique guest. The Security Officers had returned to Sickbay, but he stepped forward to speak with Kestir in his calm and professional manner. "You are allowed to tour the ship, within reason. I'm sure you understand that some areas are more secure than others, but you have the freedom to roam most of the ship. We can give you an official guided tour, if you like, but I remind you that preparations are currently being made for a formal dinner, in your honor. You might wish to delay such a tour, so that you can have time to prepare for the dinner unrushed, allowing for some relaxation before the dinner begins. We do still need to obtain suitable clothing for you and other such considerations. I understand that we have plenty of time for you to fit a guided tour into your schedule, since it will take us a couple of weeks to arrive at our destination. The choice is, of course, entirely yours." Gath waited patiently for Kestir to decide. == Tag to all == == GM Input on the reply from Kestir ==

Evie returned to Sickbay intime to hear about the tour, it gave her cause to grin for the briefest of seconds before approaching the group again. "Gath." Her voice was a little on the playful side. "Lighten up a little, as you said the dinner is in his honor. The one guest who is pretty much expected to be fashionably late, besides he has the greatest tour guide we have." She turned her attention to Emery. "Emery it has been decided that you are to be the Medical Liaison to our guest of Honor, on this tour I would suggest ending it where the view is nothing less than stunning." It wasn't an order just a suggestion. "Nurse Dawes I am sure we have an appropriate rotation of Medical Staff on hand, the worst of the Medical Emergencies should be no more than something not agreeing with a person." In other words probably someone had too much to drink, or mild food poisoning. No one ever intends to have either, but they both happen anyway. "Right now my big order is to look sharp for this Dinner, and not over do it with the drinks. If something happens we need to have our abilities unimpeded, finally its important to have a good time while we can." It was a small joke that Evie wanted to end with. "I have an evening gown that is perfect for the event, and I am sure my date will look equally as sharp. "You know we could use the holodeck to do a little shopping, and then use the replicator technology to take the outfits out," Charlotte suggested. "I know it's been done. I'm sure Raven would be able to help us out with that if there's some sort of trick to it," she offered.
"I need to meet with Dr. O'Fee real quick, and I have a report to type up, or I'd come along now, but maybe I could catch up with you later?" Charlotte grinned at Kestir, "Or I could just wait and be wowed by whatever you choose to dazzle us with later." There was a solution that Evie had, it was just that she didn't think he would like it. There was a lot to growing up in her household, one of them was learning how to sew. "I have been learning how to be a seamstress ever since the age of seven, I just need a few scans for the measurements." It would take her a couple of hours to make a suit for him that would look great on him.
"The other option is a trip to the Holodeck, they can program the system to make real material that he could wear to the dinner." Either way it was good with her, he was going to need new clothing for this. ==Tag GM input ==

Emery looked like a deer in headlights at that comment. “Is she encouraging me?” He thought to himself as he left sickbay. He only succeeded in a deep blush that grew on his face. He turned back to the ambassador as they walked out of sickbay hand in hand. Emery's face was a deep red though his fur, blushing hard, his heart pounding as the two walked besides one another. Emery did not hear what the doctor had said but he could worry about that later. Right now, his attention needed to be in the here and now with his companion. == TAG O'fee or GM ==

Going to her office, Evie waited for Charlette to join her. There were a few developments she wanted to go over. One of them was the memo that had just come in about dress uniforms. It was disappointing — that it was dress uniforms. Just one of those times where she didn’t get her way. But that’s how it goes sometimes.
“Thank you for joining me again,” she began once Charlette arrived. “I want to keep things transparent between us. I’ve given the Captain a full report — including one detail that wouldn’t normally be mentioned, but in this case, it was relevant to the mission. “With Emery being so close to our guest, the Captain thought it would be a good idea for him to liaise. I happen to agree with that assessment. Emery would be in the perfect position if any medical attention is needed. And if not... well, they can both enjoy each other’s company for a while.” She paused briefly before continuing. “That said, I’m still adapting to being here. I’ve already had one major misfire in communication. I’m hoping this event will help me understand how to communicate better with everyone around me.” She knew there would be times when it would have to go both ways — but for now, it was up to her to start the process. ==Tag Charlette ==

Charlotte offered Evie a reassuring smile. "I really wouldn't say a major misfire if you are talking about what just happened in Sickbay," Charlotte said, gesturing with her thumb to the treatment area just outside of the CMO office.
"It's hard not to overlook how young Emery is. I know you were just looking out for him. He does too," Charlotte added. "I guess guys like that are a dime a dozen in some of the crowds I've ran with before. You can't overreact - they just have too much fun with that. I think both will be fine. Gath and I already have some ideas to help him blow off a little steam." "So, what else is up?" Charlotte asked. ==Tag back, and sorry for the delay, it's been busy this week==

It was true that people like the Ambassador was a dime a dozen, they seemed to go to the pub frequently. "Yes that is the misfire I was referring too." It brought joy to Evie was relieved that they knew her intent, she was looking out for him not yelling at him.
"I do have a way to spoil the milk of his good time, however we are under orders not too. We are under orders to support him in any way we can, the support will aide in the remaining part of the joining process. "I am probably going to need some assistance tonight with this dinner, I can be a little too forward while not having any alcohol. The more I consume the more conservative that will seem, I will stick to the synthetic stuff that has little effect on me at all. I would also like to be part of how to blow off some steam, there are a few things I can do to enhance the evening." Evie knew there wasn't much time before the dinner started and needed to get changed. ==Tag Charlotte==
08-17-2025, 12:43 PM
"Part of the blowing off steam you say?" Charlotte repeated back with a grin. "Oh, I'm happy to help with that. Something tells me you aren't as ... uptight? As you are making yourself out to be, though." Charlotte added.
"To be honest, we were talking about swaying him toward the holodeck," Charlotte admitted. "And I'm certain that there are crew on board with similar attitudes toward sex, he just may need some guidance on the proper settings to bring that up. I think we've got a bit of that - 'I'm however-many-hundreds of years old, so I can say whatever I want people will forgive me' combined with the libido of a twenty-something going on. Makes for an interesting combination, but I'm sure it will work itself out as he realizes the type of reactions he's getting," Charlotte opined. "I mean, I think he does want to be liked." ==Tag back==

Uptight wouldn't be the phrasing that Evie would use to describe herself, there were a few other phrases that she would. "I wouldn't say I am uptight, just a person who is protective over the staff and station. There is a certain amount of professionalism that has to be maintained until I can allow my hair down, it's all part of compartmentalization." This was something that Evie did with basically did with everyone and thing, the actions she did while in Uniform were often different tan out.
"I wouldn't exactly say people would say they have a similar attitude towards sex, I called him Vanilla Bean for a reason. The fine leathers I keep in my quarters would paint a completely different picture, it all depends on how far down the rabbit hole one is willing to go." It was a cute pun that she used, one that was meant for a chuckle at best. "I mean, I think he does want to be liked." "You are right about the proper settings and the holodeck can provide such environment, like a Cruse ship my sister and I have been on a few times. They are a burlesque style cruse ship that enjoys a flare style bartender, below decks that's where the real fun is. If he wants to blow off some steam we can provide him a way that will rock his world, after that it wont matter how old he wants to say he is." There was another thought that crossed his mind, one that never crossed her mind before. "If you want we can discuss it further, or we can call it all off. It's up to you considering he already likes you better." She wasn't sure about how it would play out either way. ==Tag==

"Doctor, you surprise me," Charlotte replied with an amused grin on her face. "I wouldn't have taken you for the type."
"I'm sure we can keep the Mediator entertained well enough. We have what, three weeks? And just a day or so to make sure the new host accepted the symbiont properly," Charlotte replied. "He'll find his way, and won't need anyone from medical looking over his shoulder for much longer. If you want to make amends with a holodeck program or two just offer it up. I wouldn't fret too much about earlier. I'm sure he realizes he came off a little strong -- Or will realize it eventually." ==Tag==

It wasn't surprising that Charlotte was surprised by this news, it wasn't something she would normally share outside of certain circles. "Doctor, you surprise me," Charlotte replied with an amused grin on her face. "I wouldn't have taken you for the type."
"I normally wouldn't have spoken about it with anyone who isn't in it, not due to a lack of trust nor fear of judgment. Its a world that needs proper guidance if ever entered, the wrong guidance can lead you down the wrong path." "I'm sure we can keep the Mediator entertained well enough. I'm sure he realizes he came off a little strong -- Or will realize it eventually." Pulling out a small ceramic statue from a box that Evie had aside. "Allow me to introduce you to Kurlan Naiskos, it is a replica of an actual artifact." She opened the top revealing several smaller figures. "In this case these figurines represent the past hosts, with the current situation each of them influencing the current host until the current host can sort through them properly. Essentially its not the hardware I am worried about, its the software that I am concerned about." It was almost time for the dinner to start so getting ready for the event was on Evies agenda, she wanted to be ready on time but she knew he wasn't going to be. Taking off the regular uniform for the day, Evie started to put on some lace lingerie. "I hate the feeling of the dress uniform on the skin, this helps with the comfort level of having to wear it." For her to get dressed in the Dress Uniform took a lot longer than everyone else. "For the program to fully to take effect, I would be there in the shadows. My theory is if he is able to play out the big fantasy, it should realign everything so the mission could go smoothly." Evie was making sure that the uniform was perfect. "If we succeed in bringing up the memories of the Mistress we have a higher chance of success, she was the diplomat. Even with his experience before the joining, her experience will help out more." The top of the lingerie was equally as revealing as it was tasteful, there would be less visible than your average public beach. "To be honest I think having this dinner as a formal event is a mistake, I have no way of knowing what is going to happen but its going to be entertaining." She had a bit of a playful grin while continuing to get changed. "If you like a glimpse into this world, I would suggest that you pick out a mask that suits your personality. Full face or partial, that's up to you. With us dealing with death up close and personal, it helps to maintain a level of sanity helping to reduce the risk of mental breakdowns." Ever since there was a military of any kind, the impact on Doctors has always been higher on them than any other member. That is why on the battle field every year of service counts as seven, they could go days without a single patient or sleep. ==Tag==

“Greetings and salutations!” C’Had apparently loved to announce himself. At least one person in Sickbay groaned. “Don’t worry,” Mediator Kestir added, shooting a reassuring smile towards the direction of the noise. “I’m not here to flirt. I do have a request, though I suppose it does still have something to do with the body.” He moseyed over to a station, pressing buttons as if he had the authority or the clearance to do so. “Can you get me a medical profile on the peoples of both Veld and Tavers?” C’Had straightened his shirt to free of it of wrinkles, admitting, “I always thought the best way to understand someone was to… well, get to know them physically. And I’m not wrong – but I can’t exactly sleep with everyone on both planets, can I?” He laughed, finding himself amusing. ==Tags!==

While Evie was in her office she heard the voice that made her eyes roll, the sooner whatever this was over the better. She did hear the request he made, to a point it did make sense. There was a lot of information to download so it was going to take time, not only was there physiology to take into account there was how they lived.
While the information was being downloaded, Evie put on her poker face of being cheerful. "Greetings C'Had." Evie started. "I would have thought you would have made the request through Emery, aren't you two close?" The question wasn't meant to discourage the question he asked. "The information is going to take a while to download, I have also included any information on their life style. If you understand how they live, it might also make the process easier." At this point Evie did hope that Emery came into Sick Bay, his attention would be directed towards him and away from her. What they were doing out there right now didn't make any sense to her at all, hopefully it will shortly. ==Tag GM==

Ens Ava Baldwin had finished her first shift on the bridge of the USS Zephyr, her first posting. It had not been difficult once she had familiarised herself with the systems and layout of the security station on the Bridge. She was heading to have some refreshments when she realised an important part of becoming a crew member on a Starship, which she had not yet done. That was reporting to medical for a check-up and handing over her medical history.
Arriving at the Medical Department, commonly known as 'Sickbay'. A human term that Ava did not understand, nor know why or how it came to be called that. The place seemed a little quiet, so Ava proceeded to stand at the door, which had closed behind her, and she simply said, "Hello, is anyone here? == Tag any member of the Medical team. ==

Charlotte had been on standby since Zephyr's discovery -- attempting to read up on stasis units such as these before the doctor attempted to bring them aboard. When the team were beamed directly into Sickbay she sprang into action, dispatching nurses to a quick check on the away team to make sure that everyone was medically clear to continue working, even as most of them when straight to work anyway. The new science midshipman went down for the count and Dr. O'Fee followed him. After running a quick scan on her boss, Charlotte ran over to where the Chief Science Officer was already scanning the stasis pods and did a quick scan on her as she listened to her and the others work.

Cdr Keir and Lt Ra'an's synchronized tricorders easily pull the residual data from Lt Powl's transporter buffer. The aliens are humanoid, but their skeletal structure is incredibly dense, laced with a naturally occurring metallic compound. They are in near perfect physical health—they are simply locked in a deep, technologically induced coma.
"What in the gods..." Amila muttered under her breath. "Commander are you seeing this?" Amila mostly ignored the nurse who had approached her and was now scanning her with a medical tricorder, and Amila walked closer to the pods, forcing the nurse to follow her to continue collecting Amila's vitals. "This skeletal structure is something that I've never seen before," Amila commented. "And, how are these stasis pods keeping these people in such good condition, even as their power is failing?" The question was hypothetical for now, but Amila hoped they would find answers soon. It was clear these people had technology that surpassed their own in many ways. Before they could talk much further about it Morad's voice cut through the noise of Sickbay. When he said her name the world seemed to stop, even if it was just for a simple order. "Lieutenant Ra'an," Morad's tone was crisp and professional, but Amila expected nothing less while they were working. His voice still sent happy butterflies fluttering through her chest. "That data module is our only key to understanding who we just invited aboard. Take it to the science labs. Try to extract a translation matrix and some answers before these people open their eyes." Amila nodded as she turned to face the Commanding Officer. "Yes, Sir. Right Away." When he was her first officer - before the date - she used to steal smiles at him when he gave her orders, but now she kept it professional too. Serious. After acknowledging his order she walked over to Lieutenant Gath who was still holding on to the data module that he had managed to recover from the ship. "I can take that from you," she offered to the Klingon security officer. ==Tags Gath, Ameen, Keir==

"Nurse Dawes with me please."
Charlie heard Dr. O''Fee call for her as she was standing up from helping the science midshipman who had collapsed on the floor. Before giving Charlie any orders, the CMO got the attention of one of her staff. "Lets make sure that all the clothing is put in the proper place, this is starting to look like a locker room. Also until further notice Sickbay is closed for those not critical, secondary sickbay should be set up in Ten Forward. Less traffic the better due to the hazards, it also helps keep them secure too." Evie said and continued. "Doctor Tyris-McEntyre you are needed as well, a second opinion would be in order." Charlotte and Emery followed Dr. O'Fee to the stasis pods as she scanned them with a tricorder. "Judging from the skeletal structure and density they pack a punch, I wouldn't want to be on the business end of that fist." "This is something of interest as well, in theory it could evenly distribute an energy weapon blast even through the body. Anything less than high stun might be little more than an irritation to them, naturally if we have to mount a defense. What do you two think?" O'Fee asked. The doctor's comments about their physiology raised an alarm in Charlotte's brain as she thought about further implications. "Is it even natural?" Charlotte asked as she took out her own tricorder. "The metal in the bone structure, I mean. Can that happen naturally like this, in sort of concentrated way, or do you think these people have been genetically enhanced somehow?" ==Tags to O'Fee and Emery==

When A'kilees mentioned a dentist, Gath grinned, "You might need to make an appointment for a cleaning after this." He then gave another pat on the shoulder to him and added, "Well done!"
A tap to his comm badge and Gath quickly ordered a couple of armed security to Sickbay. They reported almost instantly and were instructed that they were to report to the CMO and keep an eye on their guests. Gath would arrange for relief and there would be regular shift rotations until further notice. At handing off the module to Lt Ra'an, he simply thanked her and let her get to work. He then took a moment to say to Cortez, in a more hushed tone, "You did well. Only a fool says they do not know fear. A true warrior faces his fears. Today, you did that and were victorious. It is my experience that it tends to get easier over time." Gath didn't want to dwell on the topic, so he went about trying to finish securing the cables and such so that there was minimal risk to the crew. == Tags to all... ==

Amila took the module from Gath and started to walk away - her immediate focus on her work, the mission, what was next. But, then she heard Gath offer Cortez some encouragement. Cortez was technically her responsibility. She'd let him go, knowing his fears and knowing the risks.
She stopped in her tracks and turned to look back over to the junior science officer. "Midshipman Cortez, take your time, and get some rest first if you need it. But whenever you feel up for it, you are free to join me in the Science Lab to help me to take a look at this thing," she offered. "No pressure. We put our health first. But considering what you risked so we could get this, I'd say you certainly earned your right to see this through." ==Tag Cortez== ==Also, Ra'an to Science Labs w/ an upcoming tag for Keti. (who?)==>

"Is it even natural?" Charlotte asked as she took out her own tricorder. "The metal in the bone structure, I mean. Can that happen naturally like this, in sort of concentrated way, or do you think these people have been genetically enhanced somehow?"
At this point Evie wasn't sure what to think, there could be environmental factors they were not aware of. Another factor was spiritual, it could also be part of their religion. "Have you ever heard of the Village of the long necks?" She waited to think a bit more. "At a young age girls get these rings placed around their necks, the older she gets the more rings she gets making her neck longer." She knew that the process didn't really have much in common with what they had. "Right now its the theoretical so lets make that theory one, or much like the Borg it could have been introduced after the fact. Or there is something in their diet that much like how on Earth when people were cooking on cast iron, there were less people suffering from Iron deficiency. Or something that isn't good like plastic particles found in a lot of people, it was consumed orally unknowing to the person consuming it." At this point no theory should be dismissed nor should it be the focus of any research, a closer look at blood cells could lead them into the right direction. "What we need to do is look at three of them, if the genetic structure is unified it could be a sign of genetic manipulation. or it could reveal something we never thought of yet." The possibilities are endless, they just needed a starting point. == Second tags ==

As Doctor O'Fee and Nurse Dawes expand their scans across multiple pods, the medical tricorders process the comparative data. Nurse Dawes' instincts prove to be spot-on. The metallic compound found in the bone structure is perfectly uniform across all twelve subjects, right down to the cellular level. This rules out environmental factors, like the cast iron cooking theory, or cultural practices. It is the clear and undeniable result of highly advanced, deliberate genetic engineering. Whatever these people were built for, they were designed to take an incredible amount of kinetic and energy-based punishment. The medical team's next immediate challenge will be figuring out how to safely wake up a genetically engineered super-soldier—or perhaps a heavy laborer—without triggering a violent physiological response.

Ameen stood near the doors of Sickbay, watching the organized chaos settle into focused, professional scientific inquiry.
He listened as Dr. O'Fee and Nurse Dawes instantly pivoted from emergency triage to deep physiological analysis, debating genetic manipulation versus environmental evolution. He saw Mid A'kilees joking with the Chief of Security, his Saurian resilience shining through the exhaustion and the missing teeth. And he watched Amila take the black box, her mind already racing ahead to the translation matrix, even offering a hand to the shaken Mid Cortez. A good crew, Ameen thought, a profound sense of pride settling in his chest, replacing the adrenaline of the last hour. They didn't just survive the fire; they're already figuring out how the spark was lit. Knowing his presence in Sickbay was now just taking up oxygen, Ameen turned and stepped through the hissing doors, stepping into the turbolift. "Main Bridge," he ordered. == Next Post: Bridge. ==

A’kilees nodded at the Lieutenant. “Thank you sir, though I think I’m going to need more than a cleaning. I think some teeth are loose." He felt around his mouth with his tongue and felt an upper and two lower teeth wiggle in his gums. It wasn’t a huge deal, being a saurian his teeth would fall out and new teeth would soon grow back but it was still uncomfortable. Regardless of his current condition, A’kilees was still able and ready to help.
With the help of Gath, all the power cables were quickly secured and squared away to the sides of the Sickbay and a safety barrier was erected around the surgical biobed so that work could continue without incident. He also took a few moments with his tricorder to double check the power flow to the pods from the surgical arch’s EPS all the way to the pods. Satisfied in completing these tasks, and not wanting to bother Dr. O’Fee or Charlotte with their work, A’kilees scheduled a dental appointment for the next day with one of the medical team members who had helped him previously with the cables. "I am sure science is going to need your help, if you make progress with their language please share with us." She knew they were going to anyways. After that she listened to Charlotte. "Yes all three of us pick someone for study, all theories are valid until we prove them wrong or right, and how to give them their best chance of survival upon finding a perinate home for them. It is a shame that we cant wake them up, it would go against the prime. Plus we have no idea how they would react to being woken up here, imagine falling asleep in your bed waking up here. Or even better waking up with no idea where you are how you got there, and even who the strange people are around you." She didn't want to wake any of them up for all of these reasons. "Any more questions?" She gave them an opportunity to ask before getting to work. ==Tags==

Gath overheard what was being talked about with the people who were still in stasis in their pods. It was not uncommon for Klingons to require the use of Heavy Stun to subdue them. If these people were engineered as soldiers, it might be even harder to stun them. He gave his people instructions to set their weapons for Heavy Stun. Hopefully they wouldn't need to use force, but if they did and one shot wasn't enough to do the job, then they were authorized to switch to burst mode. If a three shot burst of Heavy Stun didn't do it, then they were authorized to switch to full combat, if lives were believed to be at risk.
His people were well trained in Appropriate Use of Force. It was quite rare that Gath had needed to employ serious force outside of a combat situation ad he didn't really anticipate needing to now either, but he prided himself on preparedness. For a moment, he took the time to use his own tricorder to take a look at one of their guests. He was looking to compare them to Klingons and a few others. Organ redundancies, abnormal skeletal structures and the like were common in such species, so these were the sort of things he was looking for. He also knew that if he needed to drop one with a focused phaser shot, he wanted to know where to aim. == GM Input: Looking to compare them to Klingons and other known combat oriented species. Gath thought a moment and then tapped his comm badge, "Gath to Baldwin, meet me in Sickbay. I've assigned some enlisted security to be posted and keep an eye on our guests. I would like you to supervise the detail and the shift rotations. I'm also interested to know what insights you might have on the situation. Gath out."
He did his best to keep it sounding firm and professional, but as Baldwin's supervisor, he was wanting to give his new troop exposure to various aspects of mission involvement. An officer needed to have hands on experience to really find their footing and it was his responsibility to provide the environment for that to happen. Baldwin struck him as quite intelligent and observant. It wasn't just because she was a Vulcan, but based on his own observations. He hated when people made presumptions about him, just because he was a Klingon, so he refused to give in to such behavior himself. He was genuinely interested to hear what Baldwin might have to offer on the situation.
A'Kilees's question momentarily confused Keir and s/he paused before giving an answer noting the damage to the Saurian's mouth,
"You should be getting medical attention Midshipman for the damage to your teeth and mouth . As a member of this crew we are all expected to be responsible for the health and well-being of all of the team, including yourself." Pausing for a moment Keir spoke "Lieutenant O'Fee can you please attend to my Officer. It would seem that he is bleeding from his mouth and some of his teeth appear to be damaged." Returning hir attention to the Middie, s/he led him to a Bio bed "Have a seat A'kilees, whiel the Doctor addresses the issues with your mouth." ==Tag O'Fee and A'Kilees==
“Oh well you see Chief” A’kilees replied, attempting to explain while being led by Keir 77 to the nearby biobed. “Lieutenant Torock needs someone down in Engineering and with my saurian physiology that means that my teeth will grow back…and…” A’kilees paused for a moment. From the look on the chief’s face, s/he looked like they weren’t going to take any excuse or further explaination for an answer until someone in Medical had a look at his mouth.
“What I mean to say is…is…” he stammered, laughed for a second then cleared his throat looking a little awkward. “I understand Chief. I’ll get to whatever the Lieutenant needs to be done in Engineering after my mouth is fixed.” and quietly slumped down onto the biobed, waiting to be examined. ==Tag Keir 77 and Evie O’Fee==

Ava walked through the doors of Medical to be confronted with what seemed to be heightened activity and several stasis pods that looked nothing like the stasis pod she was familiar with.
Spying Lt Gath, she approached and formally said, "Ens Baldwin, reporting, sir." Not waiting for a reply, she turned to face the stasis pods, and being not your usual Vulcan, she gazed with a childlike expression of wonder, "They are the alien stasis pods? Fasinating!" Without turning to address her superior, Lt Gath, she asked. "What is it exactly you want me to do, sir, besides supervising the protection team?" Ava was not in the least intimidated by the aggressive-looking Klingon who was her superior officer. She knew she could disable him with a simple neck pinch. She also knew that his outward expression and appearance did not tell her what he was really like. And the fact that he had her called to come to Medical, for a... second opinion, no... he said - 'to supervise the detail and the shift rotations. I'm also interested to know what insights you might have on the situation.' Ava had already formed some opinions about this situation, but was not sure how her radical approach might be taken.

Gath took a breath and let it out as he formed his words carefully, "I understand that some topics of training can be a personal matter for Vulcans, so I mean to offense, but my question is of a professional nature. Most of the Vulcans I have known in the Security field are practitioners of martial arts. There is the Kariil-ifla, which is based on a quick and direct attack means of neutralizing a situation. There is the Ponn-ifla, which is more of an avoidance method, using blocks, throws and joint locks. There is also the famous but highly difficult art of Taroon-ifla, which uses the pressure points and nerve attack points, such as the nerve pinch that many misunderstand and very few can perform well. If you were a practitioner of the last one, you would know that a highly skilled user would know how to evaluate the nervous system of an opponent to apply such non-lethal methods, should the need arise. I am asking if you might be able to provide such an evaluation."
Gath had kept his voice more conversational, making a point of not announcing to others what he was asking of Baldwin. He politely left the question open for Baldwin to avoid openly stating if she was or was not a practitioner of the art. Gath allowed her the option to discuss it or not, but that he was aware of such things. In any case, he waited to see how she would reply to his inquiry. == Tag Baldwin == == The terms are derived from a book I have of the Star Trek: The Next Generation RPG ==

Lt Gath gave a considered speech about the different forms of martial arts and their various strategies, finishing with ... ' I am asking if you might be able to provide such an evaluation.' Ava gave it several seconds of thought as she turned to face her superior officer.
"Considering that we know nothing about these creatures, except what we have in front of us, and the fact that they are very old, closer to ancient in fact, we have a number of courses of action we could pursue. Firstly, we could do nothing, leave them in stasis for the rest of their lives. That would negate any threat they may pose. Eventually, they would die as they would have if we had not come along. Also, for some, it would fulfill the prime directive, i.e., not engaging with aliens who have not achieved warp capability. But we don't know whether their civilization still exists or has achieved warp capability?" "Secondly, we could keep them in stasis while we investigated and sought answers to our questions. But with very little to go on at this moment, we do not know how long that would take, unless, of course, we decipher the memory core brought back to the ship, which may or may not give the answers we seek. That may lead to the first course of action, or to a new culture we come to know and respect, or to somewhere in between. As to any threat to the crew and ship, this course may give us some clues. Do we have the time to do that?" "Thirdly, and this would be my choice, we revive these creatures when it is safe, and we have sufficient information to do so. This would shorten the time for the answers we seek, possibly at a greater risk, but we would fulfill our mission to explore and discover another civilisation even if it be all but extinct." "It comes down to letting them die, letting them live. I choose the latter." "Is that the sort of evaluation you are seeking, Lieutenant?" Ava was very new to this ship and cautious about crossing boundaries.

Gath gave a sigh this time and then spoke in simpler terms, almost like speaking to a child who was difficult, "No. I have taken scans of them and will be analyzing those scans for weaknesses to exploit as a last resort. I suggest you do the same and submit a report on your findings or lack of. You understand the context, so if you have insight, I want to know what it is."
That said, he turned and departed Sickbay without waiting for a reply. == Tag Baldwin ==

"Lieutenant O'Fee can you please attend to my Officer. It would seem that he is bleeding from his mouth and some of his teeth appear to be damaged."
Returning hir attention to the Middie, s/he led him to a Bio bed "Have a seat A'kilees, while the Doctor addresses the issues with your mouth." At first Evie was about to tell Keir that she was ordered to make these people her top priority, as she turned to talk there were thought processes that started to enter her mind. "I believe we have been looking at this all wrong, we have what we need right here." Thinking about it a little more. "Komodo Dragon Teeth have a one thousandth of a millimeter thick coating of their teeth, when its your main defense and way to eat you may want to manage wear and tear." Grabbing a tricorder Evie went to the pair. "Commander in here its Doctor, patients respond better to hearing it than rank. I also request permission to retain the Midshipman here, as I believe he could give us much needed insights." She didn't want to continue to talk about him without talking to him, this would be rude. "Despite outward appearances you have more in common with them than you think, the fact your people have more gravity than Earth and it means with you here we have a greater chance figuring them out." Taking the dermal regenerator to the areas bleeding, Evie was able to stop the bleeding. "A'kilees if there is a Red Alert situation you can go to Engineering, until then we can really use your insights here." If they had some point of reference, it would go a long way to figuring out these people. ==Tags==

As Lieutenant Gath's tricorder completed its comparative analysis against known combat-oriented species—such as Klingons, Nausicaans, and Jem'Hadar—the tactical picture of the twelve sleeping aliens became much clearer, and significantly more daunting. Unlike the Klingon anatomy, which features the brak'lul system of widespread backup organs, these aliens were incredibly streamlined. They did, however, possess one highly specialized redundancy: a secondary, hyper-dense cardiovascular node located deep within the lower abdominal cavity. If their primary heart was stopped or damaged, this secondary pump could sustain blood flow to the brain and major muscles long enough for the subject to continue fighting or make an escape. Furthermore, the metallic compound laced into their skeletal structure posed a major problem for standard Starfleet weaponry. The metal acted as a localized conductive dampener. A standard phaser blast to center mass would not penetrate deeply; instead, the energy would hit the ribs and instantly diffuse outward, likely causing superficial burns but completely failing to induce the neural shock required for a stun effect. To bypass this natural armor, Security would need to avoid center-mass shots entirely. The metallic lacing was significantly thinner at the major pivot points to allow for flexibility, making the knees, elbows, and specifically the cervical spine—the back of the neck—the primary structural weak points. A focused, Heavy Stun beam to the back of the neck remained the most statistically probable way to drop one of these individuals quickly. When Ensign Baldwin reviewed the neural scans per Gath's orders, she would uncover equally bad news regarding close-quarters combat. Their peripheral nervous system was encased in an unusually thick, myelin-like insulating sheath, making them highly resistant to pain and extreme temperatures. Consequently, precision pressure-point attacks—such as the Vulcan nerve pinch—would be almost entirely ineffective. To successfully pinch the necessary nerve clusters, a practitioner would need to apply enough physical force to literally crush the thick muscle and insulated tissue surrounding the nerves, an act requiring immense, near-superhuman, or superVulcan in this case, strength. Ultimately, the scans painted a very clear picture for the Security team: these were not just survivors. They were biological tanks.

The CMO made an appropriate comment relating to how she had been addressed by Keir and nodded in respect for the CMO's request, adding "You are quite correct Doctor, my apologies." The FO's tone was genuine. with note of self recrimination for hir choice of words.
Keir maintained some distance from the bio bed where hir Middie was being tended to ensuring the young officer's privacy S/he admired A'kilees dedication to his duty, but given the immediate need; his injuries required appropriate treatment prior to any assumption of his duties. Thinking back to when s/he was a junior officer and always wanting to ensure that the Chief was satisfied with hir efforts. Keir could empathize with A’kiless desire to remain active but the CMO was also correct in wanting to treat his wounds and maintain hir Middies's input regarding the aliens. Keir maintained a distance not wanting to listen in to the Doctor's comments to her patient.

Evie O’Fee began to walk over with a medical tricorder in hand. “Commander, in here it’s Doctor, patients respond better to hearing it than rank. I also request permission to retain the midshipman here as I believe he could give us much needed insights” she told the First Officer.
“You are quite correct Doctor, my apologies.” s/he admitted and withdrew back a distance from them but stayed close enough to observe the dental procedure. A’kilees pondered for a moment what Evie had said. My insights? On what exactly? This clearly isn’t an engineering issue. He wasn’t quite sure what the doctor was alluding to but decided to hear her out before asking any questions. The doctor then turned her attention towards him. “Despite outward appearances, you have more in common with them than you think. In fact, your people have more gravity than Earth and it means with you here we have a greater chance figuring them out.” Evie explained as she used the dermal regenerator around his mouth. A’kilees could feel the swelling in his gums slowly lessen, his teeth felt more normal as he ran his tongue around the affected area, and the taste of fresh blood in his mouth had disappeared. The doctor’s procedure had been quick and her treatment had worked quite effectively which impressed him considerably. “A’kilees, if there is a red alert situation you can go to Engineering,” the doctor continued as she finished the procedure “until then we can really use your insights here.” A’kilees looked towards the chief engineer then back towards the doctor. “I’m not exactly sure how much I can contribute, Doctor.” A’kilees replied as he stood up from the biobed. “I don’t have much experience in the medical or science field outside the Academy courses but if you believe my presence and insight here is important I’ll help with whatever you need.” With that Kier 77 approached the two once more. “I’m heading to the bridge, in the event I’m needed, call me” and s/he nodded to the doctor. “Chief!” A’kilees called out as s/he left. “Lieutenant Torock will need someone down in Engineering to transfer more power to Sickbay to compensate for the pods energy draw. I’ll keep an eye on things here while assisting Doctor O’Fee.” And with that, s/he was gone. This will be different. A’kilees thought as he began to remove the rest of his eva suit. He hadn’t worked much with the medical team up to this point, let alone the Chief Medical Officer, while on the Zephyr so A'kilees considered this would be a valuable experience. Once he had removed the space suit and adjusted his uniform to his liking, the saurian looked over towards Evie. “Right Doctor, where do we start?” ==Tag Evie O’Fee, Keir 77 ==

Ens Baldwin paused for a second or two, pondering where to start and analyse the words Lt Gath used in his suggested orders.
He took some scans and was to analyze them for the Aliens' weaknesses. He wanted me to do the same and report to him, adding my insights." Calling up the results of Lt Gath Tricoder, using an unmaned terminal in sickbay, the first thing Ava noticed was a secondary heart-like structure deep in the lower abdomen. "Fascinating!" she said aloud as she continued reading the scans. If cardiovascular damage, this would allow the individual a prolonged time to fight on and/or seek assistance. "Ingenious!" But the best was yet to come. Ava read on to find a metallic compound laced into their skeletal structure, a major problem for standard Starfleet weaponry because it would dampen any effect of the energy weapon, except for a heavy stun setting to specific areas perticualrly the cervical spine at the back of the neck. The metal would act as a localized conductive dampener. She thought for a moment, what could be conducted by this metal and have a destructive activity on the creature? Electricity? She immediately addresses the... "Computer, can the type of metal in the creature's skeletal system conduct electricity? If yes, how much electricity would be needed to render a creature unconscious? As she waited for the computer's analysis, she continued to examine the tricorder reading. Reviewing the neural scans per Gath's orders, she understood the news was equally bad regarding close-quarters combat. Their peripheral nervous system was encased in an unusually thick, myelin-like insulating sheath, making them highly resistant to pain and extreme temperatures. Consequently, precision pressure-point attacks—such as the Vulcan nerve pinch—would be almost entirely ineffective. "Computer, also analyzes the creature's peripheral nervous system, which is encased in an unusually thick, myelin-like insulating sheath. Would the effect of electricity applied to an individual be rendered null and void by this sheathing? As she waited for the computer's answers, she thought, "Remarkable individuals these creatures, internal armour, shielding, redundancy, but in all creatures and constructions, there is always a weak point. == GM input, please. == == Firstly, thank you for the anticipated GM request with the information from LT Gath's tricoder. Sebastian was a bit surprised when Dr.O’Fee said, "Permission granted, if you feel the need to come back the door is open. If not I fully expect a drink in Ten Forward when this is all over, we will celebrate until the bartender cuts us off." She had a playful tone to her voice. "I am sure science is going to need your help, if you make progress with their language please share with us."
“Alright, but when I was linking the alien BUS with the hyper spanner, the language on their equipement was very complex, on par with Romulan,Ferengi, or Tamarian. It’s a fascinating language from what I could see, but if I hear anything. I’ll let you know.’ Said Sebastian, his voice filled with a sense of wonder. “ A drink in Ten Forward sounds great, would you like Bacora:, or Tuba?” Smiled Sebastian. Sebastian gathered up his EVA Suit and departed Sickbay. >> Science Lab >>

Evie smiled when they got something started, the information that she gets from him would help. She had to give the first question a thought, and this would give her a better foundation. "Your home planet has a fifth more gravity than here, do you keep the gravity in your quarters a fifth higher than the outside? Or if the difference in gravity make you uncomfortable, aches pains?" If the gravity level were to make him uncomfortable, it would be much worse for them.
"Also anything that you might have taken a while to adapt to, like walking and lifting objects." A good example of lifting would be if you lifted ten pounds of something for a long period of time, than suddenly grab something three pounds almost throwing it across the room. Or when you have ten pound ankle weights on for a walk or jog, once the weight is removed the first couple of steps the urge to over compensate for the weight is still there. ==Tag==
The doctor smiled, she seemed very pleased to get started. The saurian wondered for a moment what she might ask or might get him to do while assisting her in the Sickbay. He sat back down on the biobed he had recently occupied to get more closer to eye level with Evie and rest after the day's strenuous events. After a moment of thought she began her questioning.
“Your home has a fifth more gravity than here, do you keep the gravity in your quarters a fifth higher than the outside? Or if the difference in gravity makes you uncomfortable, aches or pains?” The artificial gravity? That’s what she’s concerned about? A’kilees was surprised that Evie was looking that far ahead already. The current status of their cryogenic guests hadn’t been decided on but she was already thinking about their well being far in advance if they were to be woken. “Also anything that might have taken a while to adapt to, like walking and lifting objects” Evie concluded. A’kilees cleared his throat and took a moment to think. It had been a while since he had considered dealing with a lower gravity since it had become almost second nature to him. “Sauria does have a higher gravity due to it being considerably larger than Earth, but I’ve adapted to lower gravity due to my time at the Academy and I personally don’t change the gravity settings in my quarters in consideration of my roommate.” he explained trying to be as concise as possible. “It did take a little while at first to acclimate and I overstained myself early on.” A’kilees recounted. “I remember there had been moments in my early days back in San Francisco, either swimming or lifting heavier than normal objects, I gave too much effort in the competition or the task that I would be stiff or have muscle swelling the next day. As long as I started easing into things at first it was fine, and everything got better in time. Does that help?” ==Tag Evie O’Fee==

As Ens Baldwin awaited the results for here queries she contemplated other methods that may be affective.
Sedation may be an effective method of disabling the aliens without permanent damage? Of course blunt force trauma to the head? but with what force would it have to be applied to render the aliens unconscious without causing permanent damage? Some sort of Gas could be applied, but the aliens would need to be isolated though. The opposite is true, lack of atmosphere would do it with confinement. How long would they live without atmosphere before they would be permanently damaged? Ava was a pacifist at heart. She understood that force was necessary in some instances, but she always tried to use just enough force to achieve the goal without to much damage to her opponent. "Computer, additional queries," she began. "Using all available information about the aliens in Medical, advise on any substances that would anaesthetize the aliens without causing the damage, with both dosage needed and application methods including ancient methods using projectiles, like blow darts or filling a room with gas. Also, approximately, how long can the aliens survive without atmosphere? Ava was not particularly happy with this assignment, give her pacificism, but, she was under orders and she would comply. == GM input, please. What are the computer's answers to Ava's question? ==

== Addition, forgot to include in last post ==
Ava's last question to the computer was about bunt force trauma. Computer, using all available information on the aliens, identify any part of their body where if sufficient blunt force trauma was applied, would cause unconsciousness in the aliens. Particularly, but not exclusively, around their head. How much force would need to be use?" == GM input, please? same as last post, computer's answers to these questions. ==

The medical terminal chirped softly as the Zephyr's main computer processed Ensign Baldwin's extensive list of queries, cross-referencing the alien biological scans with Starfleet's vast tactical and medical databases. Regarding the use of electricity, the analysis revealed that while the metallic compound in their skeletal structure was indeed highly conductive to raw voltage, the exceptionally thick myelin sheathing around their nervous system acted as a heavy-duty, biological insulator. To successfully bypass this insulation and render one of the creatures unconscious via electroshock, the electrical current required would be so massive that it would likely skip the stunning effect entirely and begin incinerating their internal organs. The computer flagged this as a highly lethal and unpredictable option. Chemical sedation proved to be a much more viable non-lethal alternative, which aligned perfectly with Baldwin's pacifist inclinations. The computer determined that standard Starfleet Anesthezine gas would be effective in rendering the subjects unconscious. However, due to their hyper-efficient metabolisms and dense physiology, they would require a localized concentration approximately four hundred percent higher than the standard humanoid dosage. Delivery would need to be achieved by completely saturating a sealed room, or by utilizing high-compression micro-darts aimed specifically at the thinner, unarmored joint areas, such as the back of the knee or the cervical spine. As for oxygen deprivation, the computer estimated that their secondary cardiovascular nodes would allow them to enter a state of localized micro-hibernation to preserve their core organs. They could survive without a breathable atmosphere for upwards of forty-five minutes before irreversible cerebral damage occurred. Finally, the structural models addressing blunt force trauma painted a grim picture for standard hand-to-hand combat. Their craniums were heavily reinforced by the metallic lattice, meaning a standard strike to the head or jaw would likely shatter the attacker's bones long before it concussed the alien's brain. The only mathematically viable target for blunt force to induce unconsciousness was the base of the skull at the back of the neck. However, the computer calculated that a strike to this area would require immense kinetic energy—equivalent to a full-force blow from a dense, heavy weapon, or a direct physical strike from a species with naturally augmented strength, such as a Klingon or a Vulcan.

Does that help?”
His information was extremely helpful, she was thinking if this were to effect him it could be worse for them. In the early days of space exploration people were having a difficult time, without the constant gravity pushing down on them they would grow a little, not much unlike getting out of bed in their morning. Unlike being in gravity the body doesn't reset itself, that is also why they had problems walking when they returned home to Earth. "This does help a lot, and leads to my next request. Let assume these guests are not hostile to us, I would like to be able to increase the gravity or decrease gravity with a single command. If they are not hostile we can gradually decrease the gravity so they can climatize, if they are hostile I want to be able to outright eliminate gravity by saying conundrum." If they were hostile it would take a lot to immobilize them, if she removed the gravity it would turn their strength into a weakness. If they removed the gravity as a factor they would level the field, the confusion would give them the advantage. "If you like you can return to engineering, we can handle things from here." Hopefully it didn't come to attacks, but if it did she was going to use her head first. ==Tag== |
