HD02 - Engineering Cadet Alexander Turner

== Welcome to your holodeck Cadet Turner

Read the following information carefully, because it has a fair amount of important information for you.  If you have any questions or difficulties at any time, please contact one of the following people for assistance.  We’d be glad to help you out.

Commander Jasal Braggins@fed-space.net
Commander Shanth  mlcallis+shanth@gmail.com
Captain Allen  allen@fed-space.com

Remember during your time at Academy people have responsibilities such as school, jobs, and family, as well as maintaining our site. There are times when we may have to wait longer than we’d like for a reply to a post or a question. Patience and treating each other with respect and dignity are two things that are absolutely required of all members.

On the flip side, the Constitution states that players need to post at least twice a week.  If you find you are unable to keep up due to something coming up in real life responsibilities or you’re just going to be on holiday, please let one of the Admins know.  You can be granted a leave of absence for the length of time you think you’ll be away.  If you don’t let us know and you suddenly disappear, this could end up with you being considered AWOL and eventually removed from the active cadet roster.

Now… with all of that said, let’s get to your character’s bio!

Please begin by posting your bio using the template below. Once posted, your bio will be reviewed by an Evaluations representative. They will post comments for you and suggest any adjustments your bio might require.  Once they approve your bio, you will be assigned an instructor and your adventure will begin!

Federation Space is a written RPG. With that said, we ask that you try to pay attention to spelling and grammar in your posts.  Posts properly formatted are easier and more enjoyable for everyone to read. I strongly recommend you run your bio and any posts you make through a spell check before posting them.

Next are a few resources that can help you as you write your bio:

Be sure to check out our playable races

Our character development page is a great resource to help you fill out your bio form.

Along with character development is information about the Star Fleet Academy Curriculum, including Majors and Minors.

One last thing, please take time to read and understand our site’s canon page.  This will help you understand what 'Trek' related information is included on our site.

Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!  And as always - have fun!

Alexander's adopted parents raised him from a baby, they are senior officers on a long range civilian luxury transport The Martanique. Which is where Alexander grew up. As a child Alexander was always fascinated with how everything on the ship worked and occasionally he got into trouble for taking things apart without exactly being able to put them back together. He was also very fond of the holodeck were he spend most of his time as a teen creating little devices, vehicles and ships.

Alexander had many friends growing up, but non that were super close. Unfortunately they all moved on when their voyage on the ship was over. Most of them he never did seen again as The Martanique ventured off on its next journey. Because of this, Alexander was very close to his younger siblings Adrian and Isabel. Although they were 4 and 6 years younger than him, Alexander spent a lot of time with them and  is still quite protective of them to this day.

At the Academy Alexander met his first other Caitian and his soon best friend M'alter. She was the most beautiful thing Alexander had ever seen, but quickly turned to friend rather than lover as they bonded over their love of warp coils and starship design. M'alter introduced Alexander to Caitian culture, art and history all of which Alexander poured through in his free time wanting to learn more about his people. At the Academy Alexander's love of all things mechanical and holographic served him well, and it helped him to be one of the most natural engineering talents in almost all his classes, even if he was not the most studious student all the time.

==Good Evening Cadet, apologies for the delay as I have been under the weather recently.

I am Commander Carrs and will be assisting with your bio.

Overall, an excellent start. I do have some questions I would like you to address; the first is why did he not keep his Caitian name? Second, how did he adapt to living among Humans and how did this affect his interactions with Caitians later in life?

We also need to see your Referrer on the form so that when a prospective CO looks at your bio, they know where their crew are finding the site from. If a returning player, knowing your prior character(s) can also help us match you with a ship.

Get those changes to me ASAP, please, and we'll get you moving along!==

=No worries about the delay. My old Character was Marcus Vesner and Aeryn Miller talked me into returning. So I guess she is my referral Smile==

Good day Commander Carrs,

His parents did not know his Caitian name when they took him, he was only several hours old. As a child Alexander adapted quickly to life with humans, since he had not known any other life prior to that. Although the Transport ship he grew up on was full of all types of species not just humans. Being the only Caitian probably contributed to Alexanders love of electronic things though as he didn't always fit smoothly in his new home, and he found tinkering with gadgets and electronics calming.

Later when Alexander met his first other Caitian's at the academy he was very excited though it took him a bit of time to work up the courage to talk to any of them. M'alter the first Caitian he did approach became his first girlfriend and then best friend at the academy .

==Wasn't sure what you meant by getting changes done, so I worked them into the bio below==

==Congratulations Cadet, your bio is approved. As you are a returning member in good-standing with the Administration, I have been instructed to offer you the "opt-out exam" to get you aboard a ship ASAP.

This test will help you to learn the navigation of Federation Space, as well as test your ability to search for answers to common and not so common questions. Everything on this test can be found on the Federation Space wiki.

In addition to the questions, there is a small essay section at the end which you must complete before you graduate. In some ways, this is the most important part of the exam. You must demonstrate the ability to use what you remember about our posting formats; third person past-tense perspective, italics, bolding, double spacing, proper spelling and grammar and open ended posting.

General Questions:

1. What is contained in a Standard Medkit?

2. What could be the possible effects of Dark Matter on normal space?

3. Where can you find important news for all site members?

4. Who, besides the Captain, can give direction in a plotline or subplot?

5. Who currently commands the USS Artemis?

6. What is the highest security rating in Starfleet?

7. What is the definition of a Type F plasma Torpedo?

8. List all player Starships currently used on Federation Space.

9. Describe the “Sulu Loop”

10. What class area will you find a chart of "Technobabble" terms?

11. Where are the rank abbreviations located?

12. In what way is a Binary Star a twin?

13. How many points do you need for promotion to Lieutenant?

14. What type of star is the Sun in the Sol System?

15. List your top 3 ship preferences for assignment.

16. Write an example of your introductory post when reporting in to your assigned ship. This post must contain all standard formatting as described above. This is an exercise in creative writing and we need to see what your writing abilities are like. 3-4 line posts are not acceptable and will be considered failing. We are looking for 3-4 good length paragraphs.

Good luck!==

==Thanks! Now let's see if I can pass this test.

1.The standard medical kit contains a variety of equipment including:
2. Dark Matter makes up much of the universe so nothing should happen. It is difficult to detect because it does not react to electromagnetic radiation.

3.Red Alert

4. GMs give directions of plotlines along with the Capt.

5. USS Artemis is commanded by Capt. Tyra Crawford.

6. Way above my pay grade Smile Rating 9 Ultra Decret.

7. The least powerful type of plasma torpedo.

8. USS Artemis, Aquila, Titania, Yeager

9. Sulu Loop: Often referred to by pilots as "s-looping" or "slooping", the Sulu Loop is ideal for a ship quickly turning around and returning to the fight. The Sulu Loop involves banking the ship to one direction, before using attitude thrusters to rotate the ship 180° along its axis so ultimately it has changed its heading by 225°. Due to the stresses performed on the spaceframe during this maneuver, especially at greater velocities, it is not recommended to attempt this maneuver in anything larger than a Light Cruiser.

10.In Game Problem Solving.

11. In the Wiki under rank explanations

12. They are gravitationally bound and orbit each other?

13. 7500

14. G Type Yellow Dwarf

15. Preferred Ship would be Artemis since Aeryn Miller talked me back Smile Next would probably be USS Aquila, then USS Yeager.

Hope I got those all correct. Working on my intro post have it up soon. PS. Can't figure out why the top part formated a different colour==

==Ensign John Williams Temp Security NRC==

As Alexanders shuttle approached the ship that was to be his new home, he quickly took manual control to get a good look at her. What a beauty! He thought brimming with excitement. Enough of that though I best get to landing before someone wonders what I am doing. Alexander set the shuttle back on course and engaged the auto docking procedure. Once his shuttle had docked Alexander stepped out of his seat allowing his feet to feel the vibrations of the deck. Amazing my first new ship. Sure Alexander had grown up on a ship, but it was nothing like these beauties that they had in star fleet. Alexander couldn't wait to get his hands on all the high tech systems.

Stepping onboard Alexander was greeted by a young ensign. "Welcome on board Cadet Turner, I am Ensign Williams with security. Please follow me. We need to do a quick security screening and then I will take you to the bridge to meet the Captain and first officer."

"Thank you" Alexander smiled from ear to ear. If he could have been more excited he wasn't sure how. Following Ensign Williams Alexander completed his security screening, though he could not have told anyone what it entailed. He was constantly looking around at all the new and exciting equipment and people, what he was doing was the last thing on his mind.

Once on the bridge Alexander took a deep breath calming himself. Well attempting to calm himself. Looking around he quickly picked out the Captain and first officer. He thanked the security ensign and briskly took his place in front of but to the left of the Captain so as not to disrupt his view of anything important. "Cadet Alexanderr Turrner reporting." He said almost in a roar while snapping to attention. Damn still to excited.

==Great work on the Questions, Cadet!

The post was good too, with one exception: the NRC tag at the beginning of the post threw off several members of the Academy Board, who were under the assumption this was a Security post!

Since you weren't using the NRC, you don't need the tags. Make the post again, please, only including NRC tags where necessary!==

==Congratulations, Cadet. Aside from the erroneous inclusion of the NRC tag (remember it doesn't need to be included unless you are posting as the NRC), your post and test scores meet our graduation criteria. You are hereby promoted to the rank of Midshipman.

Your new CO will be reaching out to you shortly, welcoming you to your new ship. Before you set off for your new vessel, there is just one thing left to do and that is to update your user CP to reflect your new rank, etc. All you need to do is go to edit profile, then rank graphic then select Engineering Midshipman. The position will be Midshipman and until you receive your assignment, leave that blank and then select Update Profile to save those changes.

Introductory Post: Your CO or FO will tell you where to report in. Make your first post a special one, as first impressions can go a long way. Use a spell-checker if you can, to eliminate any errors.

Once again, congratulations, and welcome back!==
