== Port warp nacelle. ==

The chief engineer arrived on location in a full space suit. A stack of metal bulkheads and tools were beamed there ahead of time and now it was time to begin repairs to the structure damage. Through the shimmering red force field Ameen could see the endless stars and space lighting up in red and blue as the battle raged on.

Inside his suite, a calming classical music was playing, it helped him forget the grave danger he was in, and focus on the task at hand. In truth, he was never going to order anyone else to do this. He knew it was going to be him all along.

He had limited amount of time to complete the task at hand. His oxygen levels were good, but he had to monitor the radiation levels in the room and how much his protective suit can take before he is forced to leave. As a precaution he had made a quick stop at sickbay and took a shot of a medication that would help him with that effect.

Using an antigrav tool he lifted the heavy bulk head and put it in place covering this breach, completely. He double checked his measurements again before he put a stabilizing bar across of it keep it in place, then began fix the four primary attachments. Once that was done he would begin time consuming process and applying the sealant to the sides...

it won't look pretty but it will do the job...

== Deck 4 - Damage control team 11 ==

The team consisted of 3 engineers. An midshipman and 2 crewman. Midshipman Burke, a ginger with freckles on his face was leading the team. He was a bright young man, one of the top students at the academy but he lacked expieriance. Crewmen Zane and Tanaka were experienced engineers with many years of service under their belt.

"We got lucky." Zane, the eldest of the group spoke up. "Most of the damaged area consists of crew quarters and other none essentials."

He was a tall strong man, and carried all the heavy equipment with relative ease.

"True, but I don't understand how they got through our shields and armor so easily. The hull shouldn't be taking that much damage with the shields still up and running and the armor plates in place..." Add Tanaka thoughtfully. She was a repair and maintenance specialist and had seen her share of battle damage. "Maybe that Muon radiation has something to do with it."

"We can examine the how and why later." Burke interjected. "There will be plenty of time to investigate this. For now, our orders from the chief engineer are to reroute the power around the damaged conduits and stabilize the grid in the area. We must prioritize the ones causing the computer core fluctuation so the processing power is restored. Some guys from the science departments will be joining us to test that later..."

The two crewman nodded.

With his engineering tricorder open, the Midshipman tracked the fluctuation in the power grid to a nearby panel.

"Here. Let's open this panel." He pointed a nearby access.

Zane used his tools and strength to remove the cover with an impressive speed. His movement was deliberate and precise, yet had an air of caution about it.

"You'll never know what you will fin under those things..." He chuckled.

"This is not the Copernicus silly man." Tanaka replied with a grin. "She is brand spanking new... so she holds a lot less surprises in her gut."

Burke scratched his head. He never had the honor of working on the renowned USS Copernicus. He envied them that. Particularly, when they brought it up so often. But he imagined what working on an older ship would have been for the engineering crew. The type of challenges they may have faced on a daily bases. It was a small miracle it lasted as long as she did in active service.

The uncovered panel showed a half burned coupling flickering on and off, and a few sparks popping out...

"We need to reroute the power around it before we can change it." Tanaka declared as she opened the tool box. "You can use that console over there to access the power grid control Sir."

Burke looked in the direction she pointed and saw a wall touch screen. He nodded and walked toward it. He input the engineering access codes and opened the power grid map in the area. It took him a bit of time to find a stable route that could handle the increased power flow for a while until they finish changing the damaged coupling. He did the math to make sure the power grid will remain stable for the needed amount to time. Once his calculations were complete he rerouted the power and walked over to his team.

"We have 10 minutes before the rerouted power begins to stress the other alternative route. Let's get to work!" He said.

Tanka had her protective gear on already. Next to her Zane had put the rest of his own gear on. She first used a tool to confirm that the current was cut off, then she began to remove the two switches connected the damage power relay from the power grid. Once that was done she preyed it out of place and handed to Zane. He picked it up a placed in a special container for disposal and handed her a brand new power relay.

"Five minutes." Declared Burke as he checked his chrono while supervising the work.

"This is gonna be close..." She muttered under her breath.

Tanaka breathed deeply as she placed tried to push the relay into place, but she was met with resistance. This happened sometimes as heat from the damage relay will cause the port to became a bit malformed. She needed a little bit more grit to push down.

"Zane, some help here please..." She said as she shifted to the right to give him some room.

The big guy grabbed the edge of the relay that she was having some difficulty with and began to push it into place.

"2 minutes..." Said the midshipman.

With a grunt, Zane made a final push and everyone heard the satisfying clicking sound as the relay was locked into place.

"Testing time." Burke called out, and the the engineers attached two wires to the ends of the relay and ran a current through it from a battery...

The power relay was fixed and working. This helped a little, but keeping the power grid balanced was going to be an ongoing problem and not easily solvable without repairing the damage to the nacelle - which would mean taking it offline completely and not feasible during battle. Small fixes dsuch as replacing other damaged relays would help some.

Ameen was content that the breach was sealed. That would limit the internal damage to the nacelle. However, to fix that damage, they would need to take the system off line. However, This was not possible during a battle for obvious reasons.

This will have to wait. I did all I can in here for now...

Satisfied with the fruit of his labor, Morad began making his way back to Engineering.

The test took a few minutes.

"The power relay was fixed and it is working at 100% efficiency." Declared Midshipman Burke.

Zane and Tanaka cheered as the Midshipman sent a Task Completed message to engineering. This will be checked off the never ending task list and now they get to move to the next one.

"We have another power relay in this sector to fix... follow me." Burke said and the team began making their way there.

They passed DCT 7 on route.

"How many you've got so far?" Burke asked them.

"We are heading to our fourth relay... you?" The leader of DCT 7 replied with a grin. A red head female human Midshipman.

"We started a little late, we are heading to our second fix." Burke replied.  "Care to make it interesting? whoever get more relay tasks done at the end of the day, buys the other team a round at star base... You already have a 2 tasks head start.. so it's a good deal for you."

"You bet!" She replied with a chuckle. "Just stay safe, alright?"

"You too Maya." He said to her as they continued on their way.

"Very smooth Tim... You just made sure you will see Maya back at Starbase for a drink later on... well played young padawan." She said while giving the midshipman a knowing smile.

The movie reference completely lost on the young man, he agreed with her assessment.

"I learned from the best..." He said.

Zane grunted. It was his way of saying that this was amusing.

"Here we are, second relay... let's get to work." Burke, now all business like said and they continued their work.

== Deck 13 - Deflector Control ==

Ameen arrived at the scene, still wearing his engineering coveralls and holding a tool kit.

"Good evening gentlemen... how bad is it?" He asked the damage control team assigned to this task.

"We just got here boss. We are about to begin our damage assessment." Replied the Ensign Spade, who leading this team. He was a short and thin human with a pointy chin and narrow eyes. Despite his appearance, he packed quite a punch as Ameen found out during a sparing session last week.

"Fair enough. I believe the Captain is making this a priority, so we better get to it." Ameen logged into the controls and opened the system status screen while the damage control team opened their engineering tricorders and began to survey the physical damage.

Entering quickly and quietly Shione listened to the instructions and questions from the First officer before proceeding with her own scans and analysis.

Moving up beside Ameen she spoke quietly to him . "Hi, yes things are as much under control as we can make them, hoping to minimize casualties." Her tone was professional and quiet, but clearly she was portraying a hopeful tone.

"So where should we start?"
